I guess it doesn't mean much if you haven't seen it and don't recognize the sound. but some people who did recognize it were disturbed. the movies are about one night a year where all crime is legal for 12 hours, including murder

Is there evidence for this?
As a night owl and often a night worker, I'd rather do shopping, get gas, get food at night when NO ONE is around.

From recent experience, curfews do seem to help some people who are working right now. No night shifts gives more cleaning time and probably lowers visits from people stopping from the hoghway. But, that also means people on the highway have a harder time during the slowest time of day.
