alrights family's going to bed now so i can expand on earlier post

so if you'll remember on the previous episode of the gfamily: gbro was stealing gdad's car to go visit gbgirlfriend and absurdly going berserk over not being able to play gmun's and gsis's switch whenever he wants as his was on the fritz often sd card read erroring and ultimately leading to abusiveness and threats to get what he wanted to the point that i gmun have since been staying over at gmom's place for the last month and a half-ish

in this time gdad caved and went through with putting gbro on his insurance and letting him take the car every week and whatever there's some stuff in between but fast-forward to now

so all this time gbgirlfriend has been sneaking gbro in because her parents are taking social distancing seriously and the two bozos aren't, but this weekend they convinced her parents to let him over to finally meet. the two of them were pretty happy and excited they got her parents "approval" and it went well in their estimation... but then we get to today, gbro driving back home........ and as he starts driving off he turns into a ditch and totals the car, exactly what we all feared and he violently took offense to the suggestion of possibly occurring. like holy christ i'm not surprised he'd end up in an accident but this damn soon? he took the car 3-4 times previously to last month, then took the car out (i believe) once a week for the last month and a half so... like at most 10 trips and he's already crashed and my god it really is the dumbest crash I've ever heard of I can hardly comprehend it.

so uh yeah the aftermath is incredibly shitty, not just fucking up dad's car and his insurance but now gbro's put in an incredibly awkward imposition with the family that I'm not even going to go over. like fuck, it's so bad that I do feel really sorry for him but then you also just remember the other party where he abusively forced this position onto us and you can't help stay fucking angry but ugh

when I first heard "he got in an accident" yeah first instant-thought was a collision with another person so thank god that's not it, and gbro himself is pretty unscathed... but still from the sounds of it that's severe damage to the car and that's gonna come to bite my dad in the ass

yeahhhhhhhhhhh I really can't make sense of it, it was just as he was driving out from park he...... didn't realize that he was parked by a ditch? and when he headed out he says he just..... didn't see it...... so he drove out just assuming it was parking lot space? but I don't understand because uh yeah you can't see a ditch, a ditch is the absence of land, but what you're supposed to see before you drive in any direction is road... if you don't see road you don't drive

it's like right was exit left was a ditch or something, again I caveat with "from the sounds of it" but I just realllly don'tttt get ittttt because then like where the hell do you think you['re driving towards????? at first we thought it was a reverse and like still all of this applies you look where you're going but it would kind of be understandable how you could miss it, but forwards???? and like you'd have to walk to the card and not at all take any notice of the surroundings that you're in?

well I do go on to say that the sympathy is still greatly outweighed! especially with how he's reacted to my mom's attempts to salvage the damage and how he's responded to us calling out his issues

nevertheless as an empathetic person I can imagine my feelings if I was in his position right now and I would absolutely feel like complete shit so yeah I do feel bad about that........................ but my god he really the most unsympathetic figure I personally know, even if I can still acknowledge his current horrific position (and that he put himself there)

I don't have much in the way of words for yas. TBH, I'm kind of scared. Selfishly. In that, the way you describe your brother and his outbursts and his temperament when things aren't going his way and the reckless abuse he dishes out... I feel like that's been me a number of times over the years. And I think I have enough empathy for others and experience to recognize the damage it causes to keep myself tamped down and guarded at all times. I tell people that I'm afraid to learn to drive because of panic attacks and anxiety, and while true, my biggest fear is that I'd do something sporadic and incredibly damaging like your brother driving the car into a ditch. That'd I'd be comfortable enough with it for a month, but there'd be that moment where my brain isn't functioning and I either space out or make a reckless decision that results in something worse than a car wreck.

I've poorly explained to my therapist that I hate when things are going well because I know something bad will mess it all up, and I can't provide examples because I can't vocalize things that have happened no matter how minor, but my fears are that when I am comfortable and when things are starting to go well, that I self-sabotage and destroy. It just happens. And if that's anything like me, where I have verbally abused my sister and parents without realizing my behavior until years later over minor stuff like doing things I want to do or dumb ****.... and I take meds and have therapy and kind of recognize the problem though really only right now, I still have those bursts when I think I'm passed them, and...

I ramble. I don't know if I'm being self-serving writing this or providing an experience that relates to your brother and may spark some kind of insight for you just out of happenstance, or if I should delete and censor because, hey, I'm always afraid of making things worse... but I'll leave it and hope that something positive somehow comes out of my word vomit. I just hope you and your family will be okay, and you don't have to have sympathy for your brother after he's burned you so often. My sister and I live two miles from each other, and we barely speak. But that's also other issues where I'm learning my mother isn't the best at not wounding her in some way, and my mom doesn't know. God. I need to stooooopppp.

yeah i get what'ya saying, I am hoping more for a reconciliation than anything but it just gotta take some changes and understanding that some things won't be acceptable

but yeah when I say call-out letter it was also full of attempts to appeal to him just trying to get him to see the damn issues and reflect on himself. I mean yeah he's always had his problems but it's just been from the start of this year that he's really gotten completely out of control so he should be able to ease back and maybe yeah improve to be even better than that

anyhow up-date so far today gsis and gmom went down to pick him up and sort things out with the car, when they all came back yeah he was a real sad mess hitting his head against shit in frustration, went off to the balcony to calm down. when he stepped back inside I just gave him a hug and he started crying so he eased on over to the couch to lay down and continue reflecting about all that's gone on

eventually shifted him over to get some rest in my mom's bed and then me and gsis had to head out to see gdad which is where I am now (currently alone, gsis and gdad are out on a walk............ god it feels so nice to finally be home finally, and alone to boot which is relaxing)

so yeah just a bit of a reintroduction and a pause for now, we'll see how it goes later tonight when gsis goes to pick him up and bring him back here

also if I'm to be honest it realllllly feels to me like he's in an incredibly demanding relationship (whether it be due to the girlfriend's demands or some of it may be in gbro's head since it immediately kinda started off rocky)

but I find he's so obsessed and concerned with the girlfriend and absolutely nothing else, it's like he's trapped in a fear of disappointing or screwing things up with her that's just not healthy and driving him further into making bad decisions and getting defensive.......... and yeah as I said he's only really gone out of control from the top of the year... which is when they officially started dating >_>

i mean the first 2 months of their relationship was actually a back-and-forth in breaking up and gbro was suffering terrible depression from it that I was going over to stay at his place for a while to help support him since he was a serious risk to himself
