But if he's not washing the glove, he's still grabbing card and cash from other people and then using that glove to touch everyone's bags and the cash machines. Isn't this just as bad as being bare handed?

went to home depot today, they had this weird awkward line to enter where everyone had to stand in boxes spaced 6 feet apart and file in one at a time with about 20 seconds between each person.

i replace my gloves after every few transactions. some customers had their own gloves

some boomer paid 7.00 in dimes and nickles.....

I'm at least less likely to touch my face if I'm wearing gloves and they're in short supply right now. At that point, not wearing gloves and just washing hands between transactions seems like a more viable option.

I've seen people eating with gloves, using their phones with gloves on, touching hand rails with gloves, etc. Gloves are meant to be disposed of after their use and then changed if you need to do other things. Using one pair of gloves for an extended period of time is no different than using your bare hands.
