What you will need is some
large totes
Bran flakes
A thermometer
Potatoes (apples can work but potatoes hold better)
A container of meal worms (live)

Crush the bran flacks to a course powder. And the powder to the first tote. Introduce the meal worms. Place a few pieces of cut potato. Place culture in area wear the temp will stay in the 70-80 degree range.

As long as you maintain the bedding material you can harvest roughly 300 end stage larva weekly after 4 weeks. Using the culture you can spread it to create more. Just make sure that any signs of mold are removed as it can kill a colony.

Suggested uses. Toast in a skillet to make a nutty portable snack. Two share to a friend and while he is gagging steal his toilet paper.

My protein farm would probably involve raising animals for slaughter, because that's how I prefer to get my protein.

Well meal worms are animals. However slaughtering animals in the city can be problematic as most of the fauna pop is human. The main thing is available space and theft. If society breaks you will quickly learn its not just foxes that clean out the hen house

Yeah, but you'd probably get shut down for fucking all of the animals, Zeus. Your younger days were pretty crazy. :p

Not really. Especially when you consider that the food industry is looking for a sustainable practices that 100 years ago people were saying farming fish is stupid just catch em. A few hundred before that. Hey look at these giant turkeys (dodo) we are never gonna run out.

Its stupid only because lack of forsight makes everyone confident that they have a good future.

But hey just a little bit of light reading for ya. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entomophagy

Right and up until around 25 years ago they didn't realize that global warming wasn't just a bunch of hot air. That reference shows that they didn't know a species would disappear to not carring if they do as long as they turn a profit. I mean look how much damage corn farming does to the enviroment but we do it because it maes a profit

People didn't know what conservation was when the dodo went extinct.

In the last few decades, we've literally brought back bison/buffalo back from the brink of extinction solely because we realized they were tasty.

Nothing motivates conservation more than an animal being delicious.

Even most of the early conservation laws in the US were passed by avid hunters who wanted to make sure there'd always be something to hunt.

@ParanoidObsessive to back up what your saying. In texas you can hunt extinct in the wild https://www.blackwaterguideservice.com/hunting-species/texas-scimitar-oryx-hunts

Oddly enough peta wanted the species wiped out over having ranchers farming and allowing hunting of the animal. Side note ranchers were also participating in reestablishing the oryx back into its native areas.

Also chickens probably have gone extinct if they didnt taste so good

Yes but that was before. We lost a lot of supposedly tasty animals before conservation was a thing.

We should compromise between the two viewpoints, and allow people to hunt PETA.
