You had just become the kitchen manager before your break from Gamefaqs, too, right?

No, I became km on February 13th last year, and then I got a job at another restaurant to become the restaurant manager a couple weeks before this all happened.. and then I worked four days and got laid off

basically the worst fucking timing ever to make a life change. Ever. For anybody.

but I spoke to all the higher ups and they said they laid off all of the managers in training across the whole country, and theyd be hiring us back as soon as this is all over, so if it all goes as planned I just pick right back up at the start and nothing changes.

but who the fuck knows, you know?

If they were telling the truth, then all you have to do is make it to the end of the "apocalypse" that's going on...

My wife is working from home and has had hours reduced. A bunch of people in her department got furloughed or laid off, so she's lucky. Her company's sales are down 75% because of this (she works in food service supply). I actually had surgery at the end of December, so I'm going back to work monday, and will find out if we're all about to start working from home

Sadly no.. I want to be laid off, or at least have a work stoppage for the time being. I work with the public in retail so I hate being around my job atm. But, unless I'm laid off, I can't just decide to not come in to work, otherwise my ei benefits will disappear. F'd up world we live in.

No, but I'm not saying who. I've had a stalker ex harass me at my job when she's found out where I work before so excuse me for not saying.

I'll just say I work for a company considered "essential".

I would hope not. Although there are a couple people I disagree with, I don't want anyone... especially me to lose their life over this. Funny story though, they had to shut the store down today, too many people in the line-up. Talking 20+ idiots x 8 registers.

My older sister lost a couple clients, or at least their projects since they wished to isolate themselves super heavily, during this mess. My boyfriend hasn't gained any additional hours since the class he was taking is canceled for the time being, though he's considered "essential" staff. My mom had to convert her psych class she was teaching to an online course in time for the final exam. My stepdad is still retired.

Meanwhile, I am still working 40 hours a week, and my first self-published book hasn't sold any additional copies in quite some time.

My entire family and my in-laws are considered essential. Granted, we're all either medical, except my father, who is a building commissioner. I guess he is part of the regulation of who can remain open in his town.

I dunno, we're all still working.

Thankfully not, I've been furloughed waiting to receive 80% of my wage which my employer is trying to figure out by averaging what I've earned over the last 12 months...They've got around 50k people to do the same for so I'm not expecting to get paid any time soon...Luckily we won't lose anything since it'll be backdated to the date we had to stop work which was 20th March.

I've had one site cancelled and "pending reschedule" due to COVID-19. I still have one site on schedule, but my calendar is empty after that. Usually I'd have something by now.

My department has never laid anyone off in the 50 years theyve been in business. However they did collectively take a 10% pay cut in 2008 with the downturn.

But the owner did say weve actually seen an increase of orders from our medical customers... so maybe that wont happen.
I'd take the 10% versus losing my job. If employers are honest with us, most of us can understand but to lay people off to up the bottom line and CEO pay is a sin to me and that's been happening for too long in America in my opinion.
