Is this a bad thing? My understanding is that he's saying he hopes Trump's approval ratings go up because he handles this well and less people die/are impacted in a negative way. Why is that wrong? He's looking at the well being of everybody, not just what's best for him and his election chances in November.

At this point, if journalists aren't reporting, one starts to believe it might be true. That said, the principle of innocent until proven guilty must be applied equally to all and that includes people I don't like like Joe Biden.

Accusations against others have been confirmed in actual media outlets with standards for verifying stories. Katie Halper is not a particularly credible journalist and didn't even get this published in an actual outlet she writes for; it seems very unlikely to me that she chose to report these allegations over Soundcloud because it was her first choice rather than her only choice.

And there have been other allegations against people who I don't like (even people that very likely have committed sexual assault!) that I don't believe, e.g. the child rape allegation against Trump. I'm not convinced of the Avenatti backed allegation against Kavanaugh either, though I believe the other two.

I have serious serious problems with outsourcing determinations of credibility to journalists. Especially considering the current state of journalism in this country.

There were accusations against Hillary that I believed because she either admitted to them or the evidence was absolutely compelling. Like, Hillary didn't dispute the fact that she made a 10,000% return in 6 months trading cattle futures and then just stopped. Her only explanation was that she had a child and didn't feel like gambling anymore. That kind of return, coupled with a complete lack of explanation for it when attempting to provide one, is compelling evidence for insider trading to me. But trial by media? Absolutely not. No way.

You wanna know something truly shocking? If you google her name, it appears that literally none of what is considered "mainstream" (NBC/CBS/Fox/etc) has reported on her at all?

I mean at minimum they would reinterview the accuser and these two people she told. And yes, an outlet like NYT or WaPo would absolutely do the same for any politician.

Tbh I don't think it being true or not is provable. I don't think it's provable in 99% of these cases.

But I do resent the fact that THIS case with just as much evidence as a dozen others can't even get a mention on MSNBC that it occurred.

The woman on Dr Phil was literally advertised as "My mom is homeless and believes she is engaged to Putin" and her name was Jennifer. It's 100% not her.

As for the accusation changing, she claims she was afraid to tell the whole story and the people attacking her didn't help.

This isn't the first time this has happened, but it's interesting to see the tables turned on this one.

This is the piece I'm talking out. If they reported on this two days ago, they almost certainly had the assault allegation itself and didn't run it. I hadn't seen the update, but it's of the form "it was reported elsewhere that..."; they're not independently verifying her account.

But I based that off the verified reports that Bernie literally only ran in 2016 because Warren refused to.
