I really like this song. The FMV that accompanies it in-game is really well done, too. It was pretty cool how they were able to implement something like this into an FF game.

There are so many little references back to earlier songs - the one that always gets me is using the instrumentation from the Macalania Woods theme (Calm Before the Storm). A masterclass is leitmotif. I'll leave FFX for a while!

Oh man, I remember this song popping up in Curtain Call on Ultimate difficulty when I happened to have Zidane in my party, and I was bound and determined to have him get to the end. I don't know how many times I had to redo that song, but yeah, it's a good tune.

Yeah, this is the sort of song that makes you just tap your foot while you're listening to it. FFXIII has a lot of good area themes.

Hamauzu really gave FFXIII his all. He's a master at driving battle themes but he produced a full range of softer atmospheric pieces for it too.

I tend to like vocals more when I can't understand them, given the lyrics in video game music are rarely catching. Sometimes the singing is beautiful though...

This one to go along with To FIre and Sword since the dungeon themes in FFXIV are usually remixes of the zone they are found in.

I'd say this song is almost uniquely FFVI. Even if the game wasn't identified in the title, you could probably figure it out because it just has a certain sound to it, with all those mechanical, factory-like sound effects. I like it.

I said earlier that Yuffie's theme didn't fit her at all, but Sephiroth's theme nails it. It's got that ominous sense of impending dread, especially with the bell chiming in the background.

Oh, another Sephiroth theme. Or it's Sephirot here, I guess? Either way, this one doesn't do much for me. It's a little too hard for me without being campy like the previous one, and it just goes on too long.

Oh man, I have a history with this song. When I first played FFVIII, I got stuck at a part during the sorceress assassination mission where I literally could not figure out where to go next (Caraway had moved behind the crowd, but I didn't see him move back there, and I didn't realize you could even move back there with how thick the crowd was!), so I heard this song on a loop for a solid hour. It even got to the point that I made up my own lyrics to go along with the tune! I mean, they were nothing fancy, but it conveyed my frustration aptly! Even so, it's a good song at doing what the title claims, which is setting the stage for what comes next.
