Board 8 > My PS4 refuses to connect to ANY internet after a power outage.

Okay so the house I'm currently in has some weak fuses, I blame Europe, and since I've been here there have been some power outages because too many things have been on. Not incredibly common, but maybe once a week for a few minutes just because someone didn't realize there were too many things running at one. I ended up buying a Universal Power Server for the Router so that the internet wouldn't go off if the power dipped for a second, but didn't get one for my main entertainment/console area.

This has been mostly fine, other than the time the power went out while the PS4 was on and then again while it was "Checking System Storage" after a power outage and I had to reinstall the entire system from scratch using a USB, but whatever, that ended up working out.

So last night, I had it in rest mode, the power went off as it does, and all was fine. I turned my PS4 back on later to play it, it did the normal stuff and it was all good, except it refused to connect to the internet. I already have it connected VIA an ethernet cable so that's not the issue, and the internet itself never went down thanks to my UPS.

I have legitimately troubleshooted every possible solution on the internet. Tried connecting through WI-FI, reset the router, reset the PS4, rebuilt databases, switched to a different DNS, did an MTU change which apparently means something, and I even left it overnight to see if it would fix itself, and nothing. I even tried using my phone as a hotspot to see if it was just the house's internet, and nope, PS4 refused to connect to that as well, so it has to be a console issue.

I'm getting error code nw-31194-8 if that means anything. The PS4 recognizes the internet and gets the IP address, but it fails to get past that stage. Not sure what else to do at this point. Am I in "buy a new PS4 less than 12 months before the PS5" mode, or does anyone have any knowledge of this?

Oh also every single other device connects to the internet fine, the same ethernet cable connects to other devices fine, and I changed ports on the router as well. Believe me when I say I've tried it all.

One more point: The only thing I haven't done is completely reinitialize it, which is an option, except that if that doesn't work I have to buy a new one immediately because I won't be able to redownload my games and save files onto the system.

The other side of it is that if I continue to play my saved games and it doesn't get fixed I won't be able to get those updated save files on a new system anyway, so maybe reinitialization is the best option.

I would wait for PS5 at this point. Catch up on your backlog

My backlog is all of the games I can either no longer download because of a lack of internet connection, or discs I can put in and play in a day zero state because I can't download an update file.

I'm going to attempt the reinitialization and if that doesn't fix it, I've seen some relatively cheap PS4 Pro on the used market here, so I guess I can finally take advantage of the 4K TV I just bought.

Well, uh, it randomly just started working again. I didn't even do anything. I had it on in the background while I was downloading the reinstall file, looked over, and saw a PSN connection.

So, fixed? I guess. Buying a UPS literally today so that I don't have to deal with this again.
