Just a note they won't be providing the japanese voice patch from the Vita version you'll have to find that on your own separately from the game and the patch.

(of course there's torrents out there of the old fan translation with the voice patch already applied and all you'll have to do is replace the the old translation with the new one)

The voices aren't really needed anyway. I mean everyone playing this obviously can't speak or understand Japanese anyway otherwise they'd already have these on Vita.

both these games had translations prior to this new one for Zero. The one for Zero however was worse than some SNES jRPG translations. Machine translated, poorly edited, multiple slurs used throughout. It's just awful. The one for Azure isn't nearly as bad. This group set out to make a release for Zero comparable to what XSEED did for their Trails games.

The Zero patch wasn't machine translated, and there were no slurs in it. I'm not sure where you got that at all.

It WAS very poorly edited, but it was mostly accurate and readable with some exceptions. Obviously this will be the better version and obsolete the leak, but that's some pretty big misinformation you're spreading.

Zero/Azure and Cold Steel 1/2 happen simultaneously so play them however you wish

Although it's probably better to play Zero first since it came out first.

I've played Sky 1-3 and Cold Steel 1-3 and watched an extensive video playthrough of both Zero and Ao (we're talking like 60 hours each) and I think I'd say if you're playing through Sky and are willing to play Zero before moving on to Cold Steel that's probably more ideal.

I think it provides a nice wrap-up to some plotlines from SC/3rd and technically most of Zero takes place before Cold Steel chronologically anyway. As for where Ao fits in this equation... ideally you want to play/watch it before Cold Steel 3. Whether you do that right after playing Zero or after Cold Steel 1 and 2... I think that's kinda a "your call" thing. When people say Crossbell and Cold Steel take place simultaneously and spoil one another it's really usually just Ao so I think you can make the case either way.

The other one doesnt have a translation anyway right? Well it'll probably be like 2-3 years minmum before I beat sc, 3rd, this game, and cold steel 1 and 2 anyway, so it probably will by then. lol

As someone who played CS 1+2 before Crossbell i'd say the Crossbell spoiler for Cold Steel is worse.

That's basically what i did when i replayed CS2 on PS4 last year.

All other things being equal, you should play Zero/Ao before Cold Steel. I don't think it's a particularly big deal either way, but I also think the answer is pretty clear.

Cold Steel 1 and 2 are a good starting point. If you end up enjoying them then go back and play the older stuff. Japan is getting another updated version of Crossbell on PS4 so hopefully this time we might actually get something official in English.

they want to get them out in front of as many people as possible, but 1) they're a small studio so new ports of old games aren't always feasible and 2) they switched localization companies partway through Cold Steel so the old company (XSEED) might not be interested in contributing to the success of a series they no longer have an interest in growing.

at the very least, the first 5 games are all available to play on PC and these games are so old they can run on conceivably every that has Steam on it

iirc @ninkendo legitimately bought the game when he finally played through it so maybe he could speak to that

as for the voice patch, I don't think the process is any different applying it to a torrent vs. the retail game.
