Reading both DVD and CD games perfectly. Dug out my ARMax disc and once I do a check on how to install the software (been years since I last did it, I know new software is out), I'll be putting in my network adapter with hard drive. Faster load times and no region lock, even if I gave away my only import discs ages ago.

Been a long time since I played most PS2 games, what should I dig out and enjoy?

Turns out backing up my stuff is going to be more annoying than expected, can't get the disc backup application to run for some reason. Just the one that relies on a network. So I'll just stick with discs for now and wait until I can get the SATA style network adapter instead of my old IDE one (my IDE drive is 80GB and older than some users here), and then I'll use that for network backup.

Decided to pull out these games for now, though I'll hear out more suggestions before I make a mess tomorrow morning pulling everything out of my closet where it is stored.

Altered Beast
Ape Escape 3
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II
Burnout Dominator
Chaos Legion
Crimson Tears
CY Girls
Dirge of Cerberus - Final Fantasy VII
Downhill Domination
Final Fight Streetwise
Freedom Fighters
The Incredible Hulk
Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil
Phantasy Star Universe
Ring of Red
Rumble Roses
Sega Classics Collection
Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call
Sonic Gems Collection
Steambot Chronicles
Urban Reign
Yu-Gi-Oh! Capsule Monster Coliseum

Dark Chronicle sucks, sorry Keyblader

Your newest list doesn't really have many I loved sadly (although I played most of em).

PSU was not nearly as good as PSO, so i'd pass on that personally.

Klonoa 2 was good, worth playing again I guess, but there have been better similar games since so shrug.

I'd still go with BG DA 2 from that list for sure (usually a phantasy start fan, but just didn't like the universe games.

Most of them are games I never finished, with a few I wanted to replay (Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II, Dirge of Cerberus - Final Fantasy VII, Freedom Fighters and Rumble Roses). I'm still willing to pull out more, but I'll probably cap it off at 30.

I bought a modchipped PS2 at a thrift shop. I only bought it because it had a network adapter and figured I could play around with the HDD attachment but I was surprised to find that it was chipped.

I had the drive replaced since I wanted it to work. It's very loud, though (the fan seems to be running on max).

Altered Beast
I had to look this up as I had never heard of it outside of the old arcade game, which I've played innumerable times on various compilations over the years. Turns out it's a remake of it and it appears to be a 3-D'ish type title. But sadly it's also one that only ever released in Europe and Japan and NOT the U.S.

Yeah, no US release for that one. You didn't miss out on much, it was pretty average. Then again, the original wasn't that great either.

The lens read both DVD and CD and this isnt good for it, as Sony knew. They knew it would fail way sooner than it should but launched the console with it anyway then charged people $175 to fix it. Mine broke after about a year. Many of my friends had theirs break sooner.

Mine lasted until 2018 and probably beyond, it was the power supply that went in that system, though I was using the hard drive to play, laser was only to install games.

I brought my PS2 fat back to life 2 or 3 times by re-tuning the laser, but the hard part was keeping that damned ribbon cable for the stupid blue light and the power switch/eject on the front intact after multiple fixes.
