Iowa does a caucus in order to skirt NH's stupid state law about being the first primary in the country, which would probably fall by unanimous Supreme Court decision if another state actually challenged how ridiculous it is.

I never understood why any other state does the outdated, deeply unfair (can't take the whole day to participate, or don't like the idea of turning a private vote into a big public argument? then fuck you, buddy! no primary voting for you!) caucus as opposed to a primary vote.

Iowa at least has a reason, bizarre as it is. The other states...just hate their own constituents?

Call me crazy, but it just might be that his consistent record coupled with his staunch support of universal health care in a nation where a little under a third of the population is either uninsured or underinsured and medical debt is the leading cause of bankruptcy and tens of thousands of Americans die every year just from lack of health care might be appealing to some of us.

Definitely, but it also helps that Nevada is a state with a very mixed population and he has been the only candidate actually caring to do bilingual campaigning. His Hispanic support is extremely high compared to the rest, and even among white voters, they aren't the moderate midwestern/northeast types that Pete and Klobuchar appeal to that helped them in Iowa and New Hampshire (well a lot of midwestern types in Clark County I suppose, but still overall its definitely a very different populace). Plus Bloomberg is not even on the caucus ballot, so there is one less major contender to compete here.

If Sanders ends up with more than 45% of the vote though that will be especially telling, showing he can outperform the projections here and that his ceiling isn't as low as many have been thinking. Though really I am more interested in South Carolina later this week, because Biden still has the majority of Black voters support which will help him out a ton in SC where they make up the majority of democrats. But Sanders support among Black voters has been increasing in the past few weeks, and the current forecasts tend to have Sanders and Biden neck and neck there.

My god the media is freaking out, it's so funny.

Chris Matthews suggested that moderates should throw the general election deliberately and likened Bernies win in Nevada tonight to the Germans overrunning The Maginot Line in 1940.

and now

around 20k per tweet.

People making less than $15 an hour, people who can't afford housing, people who have piles of student loan debt, people who have family members locked up in jail for drug offenses, people who have family members who have died because of lack of health insurance. You're calling those people frothing communists.

The primary race is over. Virtually the only way Bernie can lose the primary at this point is if he gets a plurality and not a majority of votes, if he gets just a plurality then they can try to steal it, so Bernie supporters now have to aim for that majority and get a victory that's so crushing that no coin flips or card tricks can take it.

42.4 percent
Today, 2.2 million working people are paid the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour or less. Approximately another 23 million people are paid between $7.25 and $11 an hour. Nearly half (42.4 percent) of working Americans make less than $15 per hour.Jan 28, 2019

If only they voted Bernie should win.

44 million Americans
Today more than 44 million Americans have outstanding student loan debt, which has become the one of the biggest consumer debt categories. All told, student debt in the U.S. now totals more than $1.5 trillion.Aug 27, 2019

While not a majority, realize that it's well over 10% AND they have relatives etc. It would probably be a much higher number if done by family instead of by individual.

31 million people have been arrested on drug related charges, approximately 1 in 10 Americans.

10% of our population...1 in 10...have been LOCKED UP because of drugs...again, not factoring in familes etc who obviously would want them freed etc.

I won't touch health care since it literally killed my wife....but yeah.

So no, it's not just a few left wing people.

I highly doubt that is going to happen. I'm pretty sure the D-party don't want Bernie, and they will probably keep as many people in the race as they can to make it less likely. I will say Klobuchar is possible as she did seem kinda upset last time.

Neither will drop before Super Tuesday that much I am sure of. I would bet if Klobuchar fails to win her home state of Minnesota she will drop after though. Warren? Honestly don't know, I feel she will stick in it for a while, even though I doubt she will win MA and probably won't do too well in most of the super tuesday states besides maybe California and Colorado.
