I actually think it's a misplay because they're building up Sanders as a sympathetic figure among their fanbase. Maybe they think that he's a shoe-in to beat regardless but Trump has stated in leaked recordings that he's more scared of Sanders than the other candidates, so who knows

I read that comment about Sanders as a joke. I do know that at least most of the Republican establishment think that Bernie will be far easier to beat than a moderate. That doesn't necessarily mean that they're right, but when they do this it's because they think it will ultimately help Trump.

As a registered Dem in NV (I've always been an independent but needed to switch in order to caucus four years ago), I've received at least 5x as many annoying texts/calls from Team Bernie than every other candidate combined. Based on that tidbit of anecdotal evidence, I'd be a little surprised if this caucus is anything but a runaway Sanders win.

Bernie's ground game and text bank operation are ridiculously robust. I'm in their slack because I was doing texts for a week or two and they are doing millions of calls and texts.

Yes, for the first time for the Nevada caucuses this cycle. In general it would depend on the state - in Iowa, for example, nope.

Doors closed in NV 10 minutes ago (so no one new can enter, had to be in line before the cutoff)

NBC's characterization is Too Early to Call but "Sanders has a significant lead in the entrance polls." They also showed some entrance poll data and Sanders is tied with Biden with voters over 45 (and crushing the under.) Sanders is winning white voters and has an outright majority of Hispanic voters. Biden does lead with black voters but it was just 11 points (36-25).

Update: omg lol they just got some new data on their entrance polls and Sanders is actually winning self-described "moderate/conservative" democrats by a point. (2nd is Biden ofc)

My understanding is that in NV realignment can only go to candidates who were viable on first preference, you can't have non-viables team up and make someone who failed to reach viability on first preference reach it after realignment.

(You are allowed to do that in Iowa this is another state-by-state rules thing)

I would assume incompetence over fuckery. Like on MSNBC they showed a tiebreaker for a delegate between Sanders and Buttigieg. By rule it's a high card draw. At the caucus site they decided aces were low (Buttigieg won with a 3 over Sanders's 2) but the anchor noted that he was pretty sure the rules state that Aces must be high. I'd assume some of the people running the sites (there's like 252 of them) don't have all the rules memorized and are just making shit up as they go along.

And again, not watching CNN so I can't speak to exactly what happened in that one precinct, but is it possible that there were early votes that made a group actually viable even if the in-person representation didn't seem to show it (like if only 1 Warren person showed up in-person but there were enough early votes in that she was actually viable once included.)

If not then yeah pretty sure it was a fuck up.
