Switching gears on today, the last day of "unofficial" mod work. It's time to bite the bullet and see how importing works before I have to start making decisions on how to schedule myself. And thus, it's UCA time suddenly! So far it's pretty painless, but I am finishing up the easy part...

UCA is pretty much good to go I think, save a couple of tweaks that'll take me like two minutes. My general plan for flow with all of these is to do everything at once. (as opposed to 1006 where we'd add workers first and then go back for tag teams and such) I'll do a "sanity check" like I just did to look for big issues like face/heel balance and obvious errors, and then the third month of every cycle (I suspect this might get cut down to half a month) I'll finish cosmetics and do a bit heavier playtesting/bugfixing.

10: MSPA contracts/sanity test (I think I'll just call this "finishing")

I'm multitasking on this so sometimes I wind up with a bit of extra time, so I'm starting to use that to work ahead a little bit. Set up UTDR (Undertale/Delta Rune) and it looks like they'll be a smidge short so let's promote Dogamy, Dogaressa, Grillby, Heats Flamesman, and Clover to the roster.

MSPA is done-ish. Promoted Bec to the main roster since somehow I was still off by one on expected roster size. More rigorous testing and tweaking tomorrow but let's run a sim anyway!

-Neither UCA nor MSPA hired anybody, which I found odd even though they each had their minimum quota of dudes. Chronic and Strife left UCA and that's the only change.

-MSPA's shows were 73, 73, and 71. They'll lose a good bit of pop in their home region at that rate, but not be in particular danger of falling to Medium. The bad news is their finances are a freaking dumpster fire, going from $1M to -$600K. I think it's because they were trying to cover all of India- they made a profit when they stayed in their lane.

-UCA's shows were 46, 53, and 55- they could potentially rise TWO levels by keeping that pace over time. They're losing a bit of money but slowly enough to keep going for a few years first.

-Jakyl pisses off XIII with a "10 things that suck in wrestling" list
-FFD wins the UCA Rumble; also on the card are XIII/Nick first blood, eaed/eddv dog collar, and Boko retaining over extha
-Jack Noir turned face
-Spades Slick+Doc Scratch=The Crew. Bit on the nose there, AI.
-Epopmania was mainevented by WotR retaining over Grand Team Mayhem. Boko retained the HW in a fourway (and hey FFD was in it! Continuity!)
-Mountain of Mayhem had WotR retaining in the main event again, but also our first title changes: Eddv > Stifled for MW, and Shad > Maniac for MM
-Sultan got mad about his push after losing a tag match to Steiner and BEAR.
-Karkat won the Treasure, and MK+AD won the tag titles
-MSPA ran shows as well but I didn't find them super noteworthy

If anybody's curious: Doc Scratch is #1 in the Power 500. Sweet Bro is at the very bottom, but his clone Hella Jeff is five spots higher.

Did some wrapup work on MSPA, including making some broadcasters in India. It doesn't seem like there's a quick add for broadcasting deals these days, so I'm actually going to hold off on assigning those until a future point at which I take a look at what the game does organically.

Thanks but it's not as big a deal as that! That was like an hour tops of letting it run while I was AFK >_> Now if it had been two years of simming a 1006-verse sized database, that woulda been something to cry about lol. I do wonder why ALL of them went bankrupt within a month of each other- that'll need to be tested and such. But I have only the vaguest of stabs at starting money and no broadcaster deals, so I'm not too upset about balance. Yet. I'll be pleasantly surprised if anybody plays a serious file longer than a year on this thing anyway >_>

He fixed that bug but I don't have the patch yet so I'm stopping next sim (now with UTDR having a roster!) early. Seems like the money is going to be a consistent theme- two and a half years and UTDR's dead, MSPA is a couple mil in the red, and UCA is hanging on but probably won't be for long. Hmm.

(Here's my draft of the topic I want to make on GDS, let me know if you have any thoughts!)

Phoenix-verse is born of the concept "What if we could play 9000-verse and War of the Immortals at the same time?" A predecessor of this mod was in development for years, but with the release of 2020, I've taken the opportunity to reboot it as more of a solo project. (I'll throw the half-finished previous mod up in the 2016 section if anybody wants to mess with it!) Elements may have been taken (with permission) from various iterations of that project, the Cornellverse, and the 9000-verse.

I'm estimating a bit over 3000 people and 60 companies for the final product. The concept is that each area of the game will correspond to different things- for instance, the first area I'm working on is India, which is designated as "The Internet." It'll have things like webcomics, and internet cult favorite items that might normally go elsewhere. More details will be posted below as we proceed, but there will also be areas based on things like anime, or actual pro wrestling.

My schedule has me spending about three months per area, meaning that ideally we'll have a finished product in the first half of 2022. Those three months per area are going to be 2-2.5 months of data entry, and the last few weeks on cosmetics and more rigorous playtesting. My intent is to post my progress on the mod at the end of every month, and probably an updated pic pack every three months after an area is done.

Two disclaimers I should get out of the way: I'm avoiding using other modders' work for pictures, but I'm grabbing stuff off google image search rather indiscriminately. If you're an artist or photographer or actual person, I'll be happy to take your picture out of the pack if you'd like. If that's not kosher with the rules or culture here, I'll just...not post the pictures, I suppose! Also, the primary demographic for this mod is not this site, so there will be a few in jokes and feds that might not make sense to y'all. Especially in this first "Internet" section, actually! If you are super interested, PM me for a link to the main thread on a different site. I'm not planning to implement fandoms or people that I don't know decently well, which will probably lead to some glaring omissions in some areas.

I'm not currently looking for major help. I would love (polite) feedback on balance and such, since I don't have the pedigree of many of the modders here. If somebody wants to contribute things like pics or bios, I am unlikely to say no. Other than that, I'm planning on flying solo for most of the grunt work.

The first area to be released will be India! Representing fandoms originating or popular on the internet, India has the smallest and weakest wrestling scene, but there is plenty of potential for growth. A remarkably friendly network of companies is headed up by the burgeoning MS Paint Adventures in the north, and Underground Tales and Dramatic Rumblings in the south.

MS Paint Adventures (Homestuck/etc): MSPA's quirky presentation has endeared itself to the Indian fanbase, and they sit tenuously at the top of the mountain. Much of their roster is very young and very green, but they have enough veterans to help them reach their full potential!

Underground Tales and Dramatic Rumblings (Undertale/Deltarune): A slightly more alternative product than even MSPA, UTDR ranges from comic relief to hardcore and back again, sometimes in the span of an evening. Can their hot stars carry them to success on the national stage and beyond?

This time they made it two years! Definitely still losing money though- MSPA in particular is deep in the hole and has fallen to Small. Most of the contracts have been converted to Exclusive Written, but like Susie is a Handshake instead as a Major Star. I don't get it but hey I feel like two years' survival is an ok starting point. MSPA I think part of the issue is a lot of their dudes are super young and thusly have pretty weak stats for that level. Which I'm not sure I have a problem with! I wonder if I need to buff Booking Skill though because they CAN put on good matches but weren't doing so consistently.

B8WL wants four more people than I guessed, and we didn't have anybody on the bubble and not a whole lot of people really qualify that aren't on the roster or with a company that would have them on written. Therefore we're going with deep cuts: Monster Kid (had that run in KoT!), King (had a one-off match at Mania!), Wiggler (fought I think CPU once!), and "somebody related to some of the weird stuff that has happened!" (oh no, spoilers!)

First two test months done. My main takeaway so far is that RAs need a big buff over what I'm giving them, and probably refs as well. Also I'm cutting back a lot on the roles that I'm assigning to people- there are folks like Hype Guy assigned to RA even though they have junky skills for it. In 2016 that means that maybe they'll grow their skills and then get used later in those roles maybe or maybe not. In 2020 that means that the company will automatically allow them to do that on top of whatever they're "supposed" to do, and thus they'll get in the rotation and tank some of your segments unless you manually fix that.

Yeah but you would assign them to a different push so they wouldn't be in the rotation. In 2016, if Crapbutt McGee was really a wrestler but had RA checked, you/the game would probably push them as a wrestler, and thus he wouldn't be in the RA rotation. In 2020, those roles are more fluid and you'll be in every rotation you're set for- you'll be considered a wrestler AND an RA, not a wrestler OR an RA. You can disable that in-game but nobody's gonna wanna do that or think to before he starts tanking segments. I kinda like the new system but it means I probably should change my approach. (and will be a pain for dudes I import)

weird unexpected issue: the new game menu currently doesn't let you search for (and thus pick) anybody under the age of 18. I put up a suggestion so I imagine that'll get changed at some point but for the moment that's like a third of the mod you can't play as, lol
