On schedule today too. It's a good day, which I figure is worth pointing out since I've been gripin' a lot about my bad ones.

It's also a BONUS DAY which I'm spending on getting company info (titles, events, power structure) squared away for the US. Speaking of which hey @Maniac64 do you have any more event names you want them to have? I'm trying to preset all the events which means I wanna wind up with 12 instead of the four I currently have (Anniversario, KoT, Pro Wrestling Day, and Cibernetico).

I mean the original owner in kayfabe is Bob Saget. Then another Full House guy. Then Titor Conglomerate. Then Quack. Chikaarason was the Director of Fun/GM basically. Dont know if that is the same in this. I'd go Bob Saget for owner, not like there isnt crazier stuff in this mod.

Today's assignment was pics for general US (pro wrestling) FA but I kinda mixed it up. I've been trying to group FA under the feds they go with- helps with logistics but also that way I can put them in the same exact region to kinda nudge the corresponding companies towards hiring them first. That doesn't work with every FA in the game but I figure in the US you can generally sort people into where they would go, so I did that instead. Of course there are some extra companies that aren't in there so I tried to group them with a similarish fed.

WWE: Has plenty already
WCW: NWA/other old feds, ECW
WWF: Has plenty already
CHIKARA: Has a few already
WMAC: Lucha Underground
AEW: TNA
Stardom: NJPW/anything else Japanese
Tabletop: Has plenty already
TCW: My local indy, general memery and people that didn't fit elsewhere

TLDR: Instead of doing pics for the general US FA, I abolished that category and associated all of them to existing feds.

On track so far. Today is all the pictures that are NOT people. For my reference as much as anybody else:

Banners: I'm not even sure where these are used and they will require more work. Probably skipping unless somebody volunteers.
Belts: Planning to do a generic for a lot of them but will try to get them for things that have a good image to use.
Broadcasters: Probably just importing them from Cornellverse and/or other mods, so I'll import the pictures when I do that.
Events: Like belts, I'll only do the ones that have existing images
(company) Logos: Will do all.
Random: I think this is probably for narratives and stuff? I'm not planning to do a lot of that so it can probably be handled if/as it comes up.
TV: Same as events. I actually don't know why these are separate folders and suspect they might not be in 2020.

So handling all that for Canada is the job of today.

As with most cosmetics, I'm not going for having really GOOD pictures, I just want them covered on a basic level, y'know? It's not as fun when you have to stare at placeholders.

Didn't do EVERYTHING I was planning to do but it was all pic work and wound up being more than I expected, so eh. Got Stardom, Ponies, and WMAC pics moved over or filled in, and grabbed new pics where there were holes. Did the same for a few outliers (mainly stuff I'd tried to do already that didn't work) but not all of them. That's enough for now I think. UT bios to be finished off later today.

Demo releases tomorrow! I don't have a set plan of what to do, I'm just going to take a week to get to know the new systems and adjustments and stuff and play around a lot under the guise of research. I'll make myself a to-do list but I'm not too worried about getting specific things done at specific times for the week until the full game drops and I start the work for real.

To do list includes but is not limited to:
-Messing with new fed size guidelines
-Checking out expected/required roster sizes
-Planning fed locations and sizes
-Getting familiar with Attributes
-Going back through the dev journal and/or player's manual
-Converting 1006 and seeing what that looks like, and then figuring out what exactly my first save file is gonna be
-NGL I'll probably get excited and not wait until 5/1 to start modding lol

The new UI is seriously flawed and I cannot imagine any new player being able to hop in and not be overwhelmed. Just to give two examples, some of the text is too small to read easily and having a block of 12-20 exact-looking buttons together in the office and profile screens makes it difficult to find things, they really needed to be colour coded into sections. It results in making playing the game more challenging than it should be and that's not a good thing.

Personally, I think they should delay the retail release by a month to fix up the game cosmetically because as it stands, TEW2016 looks SO MUCH better despite the extra window navigation and therefore plays better.

Threw the 1006-verse in the converter, am running a test UK backyard game

The AI messing with stables is fun (the N9 kicked out MM, Samus, and Cloud!!), and the AI booking does seem to be improved.

I feel a bit better about deciding to start all this over, given the load times on this monstrosity and all the myriad tiny adjustments we would've needed. The one or two feds I checked allegedly are going to want to bring in massive amounts of people, but I haven't seen the AI actually do that yet. But that's another thing that probably would've needed a lot of overhaul.

Yesterday was four (4) people btw.

Regions and sizes for the rest of the game on the sheet. This would be a good place for feedback. One thing I'm noticing is that there's less organic spillover between Areas than what we have been baking into the game with popularity and such. I'm not sure that's a problem, actually, but what we could do is move stuff around so things that are thematically similar will actually bleed into each other. If I was to overhaul it'd be something like

CAN: Cartoons
US: Anime
MEX: VNs

UK: RPGs
EU: Other gaming

IND: Internet

OCN: Misc

JPN: Wrestling

I don't love that, actually, (Anime in the US? Internet being one of the isolated places?) so my vote is to stay with our current schema, but here's your chance to change my mind! Current scheme if you need a refresher:

I feel like the internet should connect to SOMETHING (ideally a lot of things but nowhere in the game does that) but nothing really seems thematic. Maybe it could be Canada or Mexico, other games could be the US, and RPG could be the other NA spot. And then anime and VNs could connect in UK/EUR.

....Still don't love that though, I dunno.

I think I've got a plan. Maniac didn't quite talk me into Canada Internet, but he did indirectly talk me into being willing to shake things up. I altered the layout slightly from my earlier proposal; it's at the bottom of this post. I think I will keep heavy spillover of population though. It's not as organic but should help a little to promote cross-pollination. I'll maybe do it a bit more nuanced than 1006-verse though. Here's kinda what I'm thinking:

Companies will have pop on a case-by-case basis, given the new size guidelines.
Workers will generally have the same pop throughout their home area.
If they start on a roster, they'll get a 10% boost in that company's home region.
For every adjacent area with legitimate spillover, their pop will decay by 10 points.
For every "adjacent" area by 1006 standards, their pop will decay by 20 points.
Exceptions will apply on a case by case basis for things like workers with ties to regions they're not based in, or people on rosters out of their primary area

IND: Internet (May-Aug 2020)

OCN: Wrestling (Sep-Nov 2020)

JPN: Misc (Dec 20-Feb 21)

MEX: VNs (Mar-May 2021)
US: Anime (Jun-Aug 2021)

More thinking out loud about design: I'm not planning on diving too hard into gimmick pros and cons on starting contracts. It's a cool system, but kinda overwhelming at start of game. I'm planning on keeping it to a few special cases and letting them kinda phase in as the player replaces the gimmicks.

Leaning towards SSB for my next diary game. I'm gonna do a road to glory CV game on the side and the full release got pushed back. Playing a bigger fed will give me some variety and also make the two months take longer. Also it'll let me use people I actually know and care about- the backyard test game just wasn't that fun IMO >_> First I gotta see how feasible it is to not run them into the ground though, since they were pretty underpowered in 2016.

The last schedule I gave was actually a month off- I forgot that I had set April-June as the first area, so just pretend that last schedule is all shifted a month earlier.

Today's goal is to re-do the region assignments for the rest of the world, and if I'm feeling feisty maybe I'll knock out some more MSPA. We've got 8 characters down so far! That puts us well ahead of schedule but that's probably necessary since it's gonna take me quite some time to adjust to the new editor/mechanics/balancing

my best effort on a SSB show got like a 50 (and a crash) when it needed at least like a 70 to maintain local pop- I don't think I/their stats are good enough to use with any kinda success.
