They went defunct and were bought out by their competitor, Enix almost two decades ago and one of the best game series, Final Fantasy was dragged through the mud. Pretty hard to screw up Dragon Quest when the same 2 people (Yuji Horii & Akira Toriyama) have been doing the series for the past 35 years.
