This is pretty alarming. The stuff from China is genuinely disturbing... they are going to great lengths to minimize this which makes me even more concerned just what the actual truth is.

From the reaction on Twitter and looking at how there's no official notice, if this is true, it doesn't seem to be a widespread thing. Could be just a limited cut in places like hospitals where they do not want people to see the bodies.

As someone who has actively been sharing twitter posts from China from the start, I can tell you the censorship crackdown is definitely noticeable. There has been far less activity in the last few days. This despite the death toll being even higher than it was

Like the cold or the flu it will be something that goes around a community. Just yet another thing to get sick from. They need time because vulnerable populations die at higher rates than the normal flu, so they want to have a vaccine ready for those people.

That's the general idea I got just from reading the term. Does he mean this specific strain? If the death rate really is in the 2-3% range, that's pretty scary, even thought I'm confident they will develop a vaccine.

It is just the Flu!
Nobody outside China will die of it!
Nobody outside China that is not a Chinese will die of it!
Only a handful of persons outside China have died, and they were all old, it doesn't count!
That it got twice the deaths in half the time compared to the SARS outbreak doesn't count, it is just the flu!
That we would have more people like Steve Walsh spreading it without all these quarantine doesn't matter, I will not get it so it is just fine!

Why do people keep comparing to SARS as if SARS was some kind of apocalyptical end of days scenario. The flu killed more people than SARS and the Flu will kill more people that Corona. Just lazy fear mongering.

SARS had a mortality rate of 9.5%.
The Flu got a mortality rate of 0.095% in USA.
Acting like it is just a flu and skipping all qarantines will just turn it into the next Spanish Flu.

Eight planes at Heathrow Airport were grounded this morning after passengers on board complained of coronavirus symptoms. Passengers on a United Airlines flight from San Francisco were told to stay put after landing because someone may have caught the deadly flu-like disease. Travellers say the captain warned they could be stuck on the tarmac for some time as concerns had been raised on seven other planes. Public Health England and Heathrow officials have refused to release any details about this mornings incident which would have involved hundreds of passengers.

But United Airlines have confirmed someone had become unwell on board Flight 901 from San Francisco. A passenger on board the flight said travellers had been asked to fill in a form before workers in hazmat suits came to clean the vehicle. Andy West, from Henley-on-Thames, said staff led a passenger to the back of the aircraft and waited for health officials to arrive.

The traveller said everyone else was allowed to leave about half-an-hour later. He told MailOnline: We were told to stay sat until authorities came on board, and he [the captain] said that seven other flights had landed and had a similar situation. Id be lying if I said I wasnt worried, my mind started to race.

The chief development officer for a PR agency said cabin crew were not wearing any masks or protective clothing when dealing with the passenger.

That's my thinking regarding the people claiming a 10%-20% mortality rate for this thing

None of that is reflected in the cases outside of China

One thing to consider regarding deaths outside Wuhan is availability of proper care.

Perhaps one of the deadlier things, regarding this virus, is how quickly it can overwhelm the medical system once it's given the chance.

A researcher with ties to China was recently escorted out of the National Microbiology Lab (NML) in Winnipeg amid an RCMP investigation into what's being described as a possible "policy breach."

Dr. Xiangguo Qiu, her husband Keding Cheng and an unknown number of her students from China were removed from Canada's only level-4 lab on July 5, CBC News has learned.

A Level 4 virology facility is a lab equipped to work with the most serious and deadly human and animal diseases.
That makes the Arlington Street lab one of only a handful in North America capable of handling pathogens requiring the highest level of containment, such as Ebola.

Security access for the couple and the Chinese students was revoked, according to sources who work at the lab and do not want to be identified because they fear consequences for speaking out.

This isn't the first time police have investigated an incident at the lab.
In 2009, a former researcher at the lab was convicted of trying to smuggle genetic material from the Ebola virus across the Manitoba-North Dakota border.
The FBI is also investigating cases involving Chinese researchers in the United States.
