Definitely not big on Friend Battle Good bump on Lance/Red Battle, probably the most iconic battle theme in the series for me Seeing Unwavering Emotions place this high makes me sad that Memories Returned only got 2.5 Canalave rounding out the top 50, I'll take it! The song doesnt let up from there, taking me on a rollicking ride of chiptune goodness. There are bits I recognize from Super Smash Bros. Thats a quality thats best found in chiptunes. This is almost too happy town for me, but it has enough personality that I really dig it. (Read that a few times.) This has kind of an Arabian flare to it. One thing Ive learned in this ranking is I tend to dig the BW samples overall; theyre very playful and they seem shockingly versatile. It simultaneously has this majestic, flowing feeling to it while also being very high-energy in a way that I dont think Ive quite heard before (maybe just as far as chiptunes, at least). This would be at least a 9, but man that one flute-like sample that leads throughout the song is so shrill, particularly in the high notes. I dont really mind it per se, but it does knock it down quite a few points. Which is a shame, because theres a lot to really love here, like the sense of ominous dread that mixes nicely with the pretty chill pace. This is the last GSC song on this list. Shoutouts to these games for having the most overall improvement. Most of their songs started sub-3.5, but got gradually bumped up after relistens.
