Leon is watching/playing a great many things. From an Akira Toriyama double whammy in Dragon Ball and Dragon Quest XI to literally Scooby-Doo, our favorite Squall diehard is boldly going in several directions. As for myself, I'm all eyes on Star Trek: Picard after a terrific series premiere that feels in every way like a solid continuation that honors one of the smartest, wisest characters in science fiction. (I'm also playing World of Final Fantasy. Which is a trip.)

Fire Emblem: Three Houses' fourth and presumably final DLC is out soon enough that we might be talking about it by topic's end. That the concept itself just seems ripe for plotholes and really stretching the suspension of disbelief.

like there's an underground (literally?) to Garreg Mach that goes completely unmentioned in Part I when that kind of thing would be super relevant to a lot of the intrigue and developments that go on there for most of the first half.

Like I hope to be proven wrong, and I might be because 3H has been excellent, but given that Awakening and Fates - both of which were games with some pretty glaring flaws, particularly the latter - had their story DLCs completely kick it up several levels I gotta say that this 4th DLC isn't exactly inspiring confidence in me to follow in that tradition. Though OTOH, 3H shoring up many of the faults those titles had also kind of left much less room to have such dramatic improvements with a story DLC because it'd be really hard to do that in a satisfying way that could cover all content. Like could they have overhauled Crimson Flower Part 2? Sure, and I'd have loved that, but I won't deny that that might feel unfair to fans of the other houses and also something that might not even be seen by many players who don't want to go that route. And by its very nature it'd be hard to throw something in Part 2 for that very reason.

Just spitballing an idea I think their best bets would have been either an "intermission" between Parts I and II but that'd still probably require a bit of a work to accommodate all options... or like a standalone prequel campaign kinda like XB2's Torna set in the past, whether it be the Seiros/Nemesis War or even the War of the Eagle and Lion or the Alliance's Independence Campaign against the Kingdom.

But again, hopefully I turn out to be wrong and 3H scores another winner!

Well, on the game front (which is the only real front tbqh) my 3H 2nd Playthrough is sitting on the day of the final battle of Part I as I embark on Silver Snow.

And I also fell to the gacha side and started up Fate/Grand Order a little less than a week ago. I have cleared the prologue and first two singularities (I guess you could say Chapters). I also learned there is a Kara no Kyoukai Event coming up so my goal has shifted to make this game KnK/Grand Order and try to get all the KnK characters I can so get hype for me to fall into despair in like 3 weeks when the curse of gacha befalls me and I come up empty and hating life.

Yeah, I don't know that I have high expectations for the Three Houses DLC to be anything mind-blowing, but it looks like a fun side story.

Gaming: Finished God of War 2018: okay game. Cool story, bad exploration/world, meh gameplay. Now playing Atelier Ayesha, which is a fun little JRPG that feels shockingly open. Haven't really played a JRPG that felt this way before.

Watching: Mr. Robot, natch. Also technically watching Vinland Saga, but not really. Haven't felt the call of the anime lately for whatever reason...

Three Houses common route spoilers
I don't think the underground is specifically mentioned but it is brought up that even people who have been at Garreg Mach for many years don't know the full layout. Like when Flayn got captured she was in a hidden area that people didn't know about.

3H Common Route: Yeah, some NPC does say that but I assumed that like... Rhea knows the whole layout since she's been around forever. ...She's just uh... not entirely sane so... maybe she overlooked it and/or put too much trust in the Knights to suspect a problem that close to home even though another NPC mentions there was some resistance to Jeritza getting his position the way he did. Also they must have patched in some new NPCs because there's 2 new ones in like Chapters 4-10 that tease its existence that weren't there at launch. Which actually suggests it is known! One of them is right outside Rhea's audience room cursing the "Abyssians!"

I have been doing...uh...things. Most relevant to this topic is probably that I was at a Nier orchestral concert last weekend (No I still never finished either of the games lol) and it was pretty cool. First half of the program was songs from Nier and the second half was songs from Automata.

Overall I like the first game's songs more--both the OST versions and at the concert, but I was struck by how much more I liked a few of the Automata songs hearing them live as compared to in-game or on Youtube. Notably Sound of the End and The Tower, and Bipolar Nightmare to a slightly lesser extent. Emil and Song of the Ancients were also great, but I've always loved those songs. Only complaint is that they played a version of Shadowlord that primarily utilized instrumental melodies and didn't use a choir at all, and the result wasn't as good imo. I also got to hear a live harpsichord for the first time which was very cool.

Other than that uh...in the anime world I'm watching My Hero Academia and Chihayafuru. I have also been trying to read the Baldr Sky visual novel but current trends would suggest that I don't finish despite it being a reasonably solid story.

Hey, Mac, is it kinda normal for Grand Order to be a bit crashy? Like it's not incessant or anything, but every now and then it'll just hard crash. It's not really a huge deal and generally just a minor inconvenience although I almost got mad when it just crashed when I went to do my Free Friend Point Summon for the day and it immediately crashed when I tapped to start it and I worried it would count as having used it up with no results but when I re-opened it the free summon was still there.

And it's not even the bosses! It's the stages! Well, in Heatnix, it's that stupid donut boss that you have to fight over and over again. And Mijinion does have good music, but why do I have a robot in the background shooting at me literally the whole time?
