There are 20 boxes that ask me to fill out my skill in that area from 1-10. I just fill out 10 on all of them right? Generic stuff, like "friendliness" and "teamwork skills". I shouldn't throw in a 9 here or there?

Just seems weird. Like, if you're going to ask me, of course I'm going to give you a 10. I don't understand the mind games. >_>

I know the other trick, I say I don't have any plans outside of working for this place, of course. I only have eyes for this grocery store. Not becoming a software engineer any time at all even though I'm going to school for it.

I dont like things like this. If you answer all 10s, people could assume youre full of it and not fit for the job. If you answer honestly, they might think you suck and aren't fit for the job.

Maybe just fill it up with a lot of 8 or 9s and save the 10s for things you actaully are really good at?

I've heard you're never supposed to answer applications honestly, and if you give them a negative answer they filter you out as someone dumb enough to answer a question honestly instead of giving them what they want to hear.

lol ok. you probably shouldn't be a manager if you think dishonesty is a useful skill for employees to have

The person who told me this was an actual recruiter.

In other words you heard it from someone who makes money making sure you get the job regardless if youre a good fit.

I'll just do mostly 9s and 10s th maybe one 8. In pencil, in case I have to erase them.

I'll be "honest", because I really do think I'm on the more competent and friendly end of the employees here, but I'll ask my manager if she thinks it's a good idea first.

But then my manager probably doesn't want to lose me. I do my job quickly without complaining or causing drama and I took my first sick day after 2.5 years.

Tell them their application sucks and that you will be searching for a job elsewhere.

Atm this is the highest pay I am qualified for. Plus having "manager" on my resume is only going to help me in life.

Why listen to anyone here then? Who cares if they have experience in something.

X might be a teacher but nothing he says about public education is relevant because he's on an internet message board. They might have zero record of lying and they may be respected but don't listen to them.

If you make them all tens theyll know youre lying. If youre going to lie you need to make some of them look realistic.

Just go for all 10s. It's about representing the company as well as yourself to a higher standard that they expect.

The good thing is that the answers are pretty much all there. You know know what they look for and you can rationalize putting high marks with examples of your experiences. If you can't well now you have a check list to use to seek out those experiences.

Just make sure you can recall an example of each and seek out experiences in the areas you lack or feel less comfortable in.
