The first two Zelda games. I'm not actually sure which one I played first because my parents bought them used at the same time in 1991 when I was three.

I played the original back in the day when it was released. My mom was into playing at the time and I remember later on Walmart breaking the street date for Link to the Past for her. Good times.

Legend of Zelda on NES, both quests. Had a bit of help from Nintendo Power and the Official Nintendo Players' Guide.

In the really early days of the NES, it was still a lot of arcade ports, SMB, Metroid, and whatever you could get your hands on. Karnov, Rush n Attack, Rambo, Metal Gear, Contra, Ikari Warriors, 1942, Kid Icarus... maybe Rygar, Blaster Master, Dragon Warrior, baseball, Mike Tyson's Punch Out...the original Zelda was sort of a sleeper and I really think that if it weren't for the gold cartridge and Nintendo Power it might have just gone under the radar like Jackal or Balloon Fight. There was always the one weird kid on the block that had Golgo 13 or M.U.S.C.L.E.

Remember the tombstone in the original Final Fantasy that read "here lies Link"?

I think the Original was the first I attempted, but the first one I played and beat was probably Link's Awakening.

Yeah, Nintendo went all out to make Zelda seem special. On top of the gold cartridge, there's the fact that I believe that was the first non black box Nintendo game, so everything about it screamed "This is a big deal"

The original. I was able to beat the whole game pretty fast at a young age because we were only allowed to play games for a max of 1 hour per day during summer break. So I just got really good at it.

There actually is an old man in a cave or one of the dungeons that tells you how to get through the Lost Woods, but like all clues in the original English translation Zelda, they only make sense after the fact.

No, because in the original US version of Final Fantasy, it didn't say that. It said "Here lies Erdrick" (aka, the character from Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior). It wasn't until later translations that they changed it back to Link.

But either way, it was itself a reference to a tombstone in Zelda II - in the original Japanese, it said "Here lies Loto" (aka, the original Japanese name of Erdrick).

Definitely Ocarina of Time though I first heard about the series from this Majora's Mask commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6JlLiOHy90

Aaaanyway, a few months after seeing that commercial, my younger brother became sick (I think he had a very high fever but I can't clearly remember) and had to stay at a children's hospital for a few days. While visiting him, I found out that they had a Legend of Zelda game there and thought it was Majora's Mask (the only one I knew about at the time). When my brother (being pulled in a little red wagon for fun) and I got to the kiosk, I saw that it was Ocarina of Time instead. Never heard of it before that moment but I decided to play anyway and finished the Great Deku Tree temple before continuing to pull my brother around in that wagon.

It wasn't until about a year later when I was able to play more of the game thanks to meeting my now-roommate who owned a copy of OoT and it wasn't until merely a few years ago when I finally got my own copy and played through the entire game.

I think the first one I played was A Link to the Past. I use to chase the person with the Pegasus boots to catch them. And run into trees. But I didn't know much about the rest of the game.

The first time I got really into it was OoT. I went to y cousin's house and they were playing it. I saw it and it looked fun. I think they were in the spirit temple. So I asked my mom if I could get the game. I beat it, love it, and then ask if I could get MM for Christmas when it came out. And she got me it. And that was my favorite games. I would spend the whole day downstairs playing it.
