I didn't have an NES as a kid (parents kept saying it was too expensive... then they bought me an SNES when it was pretty new, go figure), so I was at the mercy of whatever games my friends and family had. My older cousin had Zelda II when I was visiting and he let me take a crack at it. Not too long after my best friend who lived down the street from me got the original game and we played the hell out of that. Second was Link to the Past which was mind-blowing in comparison. I saw Zelda 1 for the first time at a "friend's" house but he wouldn't let me even try it so didn't get to play it. I saw it behind the counter and between my parents and I we managed to play enough games to pool tickets together to get it. I don't remember how much we spent in tokens that night but I imagine it was way more then the game was actually worth. I like the game, but oddly enough I only beat it once.
