Capcom threw its entire weight behind a stupid, over-the-top, balls-out action game. It's one of the best, most polished, most varied, most complete TPses ever made. Everyone knows it's "not a Resident Evil game", so stop acting like it ever even intended to be. "Classic" Resident Evil is back, it didn't ruin the series, just appreciate it for what it is.

Respect it for what it is? A game with one good campaign, one ok campaign, one bad campaign with a dope final boss, and one terrible campaign? Sure, it's like 1/4 a good game!

I somehow kept going and finished Chris

Then it hit me. Why did I keep playing this garbage? Why is it taking so long?

The game is stretched way too thin.

It was such a bad game, it was ok for coop but RE 5 did that much better while also being a good, and fun RE game.

I'm currently playing through RE6 again with the person I'm spending time with, we knocked out the Leon campaign weekend before last and Chris last weekend. I don't think I'd ever load it up again in a single player scenario but it's one of the better couch co-op zombie blasting experiences of the last decade.

ETA: We also played through RE5 together over the summer, RE6 is the more enjoyable.

I hated the 6 different stories at the same time but all connected so very much. Didn't like it in the remake of 2 either but at least it was only 2 characters.

5 was dealing with the Las Plagas parasites that turn living people into monsters, it's not at all traditional reanimated corpse style zombies.

While it's probably true that Capcom thought it was more socially acceptable (given black people's history of oppression from other ethnicities) because Sheva was your partner and black, (and that's probably at least in part why she was made to be so, I'm not denying that), we were fighting Europeans and mostly white people in RE1, 2, 3, and 4, so I don't think it was intended to be racist on Capcom's part that a lot of the enemies in RE5 happened to be living in, and from Africa, and as such, black people. And it didn't offend me personally, as a black dude, I enjoyed RE5 as did my friend (who also happens to be a black man), and we co-oped through the entire main campaign too, and the DLC.

I was mostly being hyperbolic the way I described it lol, I'm black and despite what I said earlier it didn't particularly offend me either

But fuck, if it isn't a little tone deaf.

Back to RE6, Chris's campaign feels a lot more quality playing as Piers. He has better weapons and story-wise it makes more sense that he would be the ideal viewpoint character for that story, being the new guy

The person that I'm seeing and I do that to each other in real life now if we're getting ready to leave and one of us is taking significantly longer to get ready than the other. "Sheva...Sheva...Sheva...COME ON!"

RE6 is fine in co-op aside from the QTEs.

It's a dumb action game and is at its best when it tries to be that instead of the way Leon's campaign is designed which is easily the worst one

RE 5 actually had a good story with solid game play, no bullet sponges, and never went over the top until the very end with hammy Wesker , boulder punching Chris.

RE 6 was trying to be a Micheal Bay movie in all the worst ways.

Honestly, best campaign is Chris's because it actually stuck to its TPS gameplay rather than trying to be a weird hybrid like the others. The ending is one of the few genuinely sad scenes in RE. Everyone likes Leon's but honestly I think his is the second worst (after Ada's) other than Simmons which was a hilariously over the top and creative boss.

I liked 6, especially Mercenaries mode. I'd say it's one of the best Mercenaries mode, being able to move while shooting and not having to go to your inventory screen to change weapons was the best fucking decision Capcom Made. Dodging attacks then countering them is fucking great too. Fuck the haters, makes me wonder if those who hate 6 even played Mercenaries. That being said, 4 is still the best Resident Evil game there is.
