Vegetarians sure. Vegans...lol

Like if it's a HUGE party I will have a couple vegan friendly things(with the disclaimer that I) but a smaller party if someone wants to be a special snowflake without having a severe allergy or something they are on their own.

let's face it, some vegans are insufferable.

There's the "meat is murder!" types, there's the "how dare you be against bullfighting or dog torture if you ate a ham sandwich yesterday?!?! HUH?! HUH!?!" and there's also the guys who will go to your BBQ but act offended because the only vegan options are corn, lettuce and tomatoes... those are veggies aren't they?

That's basically what I was getting at with my OP. It's your choice to restrict your diet so heavily, so it's not really fair to expect people to make special dishes for you if you wont do the same for them when you're hosting.

Like I said, I love vegetables. But certain things that vegans cut out are basically essential to cooking.

it's a real story too, some idiot (not a friend of mine) showed up to a BBQ. We had lettuce, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and mushrooms... because those are good for grilling with meat.

He acted all upset he "couldn't eat with us" because we had no vegan options. BOO HOO, bring your own vegan food or act like a big boy and dare to eat a lettuce/tomato/peppers/shrooms sandwich for once, what's so wrong with it?

do you guys remember the burger king impossible burger fiasco?

BK went out of its way to please vegans and made a plant based burger with a special heme-ingredient to make it taste like meat. People liked it. So hardcore vegans had to find a reason to still feel victimized and investigated the cooking method and found out that BK didn't invest billions on dollars to repurpose ALL OF ITS KITCHENS so the veggie burgers were cooked in separate grills as if they were kosher food or something.

BOOM, BK gets sabotaged and forced to apologize and put a disclaimer basically saying that their impossible burger is "murder meat" too

I've never actually met a vegan who demands dietary appropriate food at a party. They generally will bring their own or eat beforehand.

Now the one exception is for like full-blown dinner parties. If you are inviting a vegan to a (non-profit luck) dinner party, it is generally polite to have at least a couple of things they can eat. If you don't know, just ask them what they would like and odds are they will tell you not to worry about and that they'll bring something themselves.

I've had it before. In restaurants, it's good, because they can afford to use really high quality vegan equivalents for dairy. But it's not realistic on a small scale unless you're wealthy and can afford it. Hence why most homemade vegan takes on dishes are inferior to what they're imitating.

In general, stuff that happens to incidentally be vegan without forcing it, like dishes of grilled vegetables and certain pasta dishes, are actually totally yummy. But most people aren't satisfied by just eating a side dish, so it goes back to the problem of expecting someone to prepare a special meal for you.

vegan food can be catered to and enjoyed by all, but the scenario in which a vegan party won't accomadate a non-vegan makes it sound like the non-vegan is facing similar limitations that a vegan would at a non vegan event would which is disingenuous

If you cook on the same surface as meat without cleaning it, it's not vegetarian anymore because. That's common sense, what's hard to understand?

yeah but they objectively have less options than you would in the reversed scenario. im of the sentiment that if you're hosting a party you can do whatever the fuck you want, but dont act like this is the same thing.

so it's like a religion?

Like, what if you're cooking on a certified vegan, fair trade, non-GMO grill blessed in a ritual using patchouille juice and burning incense by Wai Lana and then accidentally someone dropped a sausage for 2 seconds on the lower right corner of the grill and all of the veggie patties are in the upper-left corner, is the whole batch spoiled?

What if the grill was used for burgers last week but it was washed and sterilized for 5 days straight, can it be used now? Is there a "one drop rule" for meat?

Tbqh I personally don't criticize veganism for not eating meat, since like I mentioned earlier the thread, I eat very like meat as is. I criticize it for substituting vital cooking elements like milk and butter and cheese. As a lifelong cook, I am fundamentally opposed to substituting the building blocks of basic cooking.

Hence why I made this troll topic.

This guy I know literally got mad for not having vegan options. But there was bread, ketchup, lettuce, onion, peppers (red and green), tomatoes and mushrooms. He threw a fit anyway.

How is it not the same thing as me not getting burger patties at a vegan event?
