Bacon taste better, but bacon compliments a meal while sausage is the main dish outside of breakfast. And there's more variety with sausage

While there are different kinds of bacon it's all still bacon. Sausage is a whole genus of foodstuffs. Breakfast sausage, Italian sausage, chorizo, brats, kielbasa, hotdogs, etc...

Sausage could be anything. I don't mind sausage from time to time, but the fact is that it's all meaty bits that weren't pretty enough to be sold on their own and fat. At least 50% of all meat sausages are usually fat, which is why they leave that awful feeling in your mouth when you eat one cold.
There's good bacon and bad bacon, but you always know what's inside bacon. Bacon's only ingredients? Bacon, and a stripe or two of fat - much less than you'll get in one single sausage.
