What caliber?

DEs are meme guns for people that think hard recoil = masculine.

Except you have to go through like 10k in ammo to break it in.

My skinny ass friend was obsessed with getting a Ruger Redhawk Alaskan as a fucking conceal carry gun after he saw some movie where The Rock used it.

Told him that was a stupid as fuck idea, but he never listens to me. Spent all that money, and it hurt his skinny wrist the first time he shot it and it was so heavy and bulky he couldn't find anything he could actual conceal it while wearing. (it's designed to be worn on a chest/vest rig while hunting/fishing)

And of course, he can't find anyone to buy it because it's a fucking grizzly bear gun and we live like 30 miles from Chicago.

This made me lol. But, I looked up the gun and while a 454 is big the overall size of the gun is pretty standard for a snub nose. It's not that much bigger than a 44 snub nose overall. You sure that's the name of the gun?

Yeah, I'm sure.

When I say he couldn't conceal it, I mean that it was so heavy that it caused all his pants to sag, although that might be more about how he wears belts and stuff. That is the only gun he has ever owned so it might have just been him being bad at concealing or buying a bulky holster or something.

I shot a Desert Eagle once, it was no where near as bad as I thought it would be. More surprising than I anticipated but not as bad as I thought it would be... if that makes sense.

What did you shoot though? It comes in different calibers.

I feel like there's probably a Bollywood action scene where some guy tries to leap over a chasm and fires two Desert Eagles straight down for sustained hover to make it all the way across.

I'm pretty sure it was the 50 cal. I don't actually remember, this was years ago. So I might not have been, I didn't ask because i just assumed that it was the 50 cal version because I didnt know it came in different calibers.

The .50 AE caliber models are probably the best selling DEs by virtue of what that type of customer is looking for, but the .44 Mag and .429 models are pretty common still. It could go either way.

To be honest, a more discerning gun owner would probably pick it up in the .44 Mag, because at that caliber it is a somewhat pleasant range gun. Even .50 AE DEs are more pleasant to shoot than .50 AE revolvers though, which is the way most people probably experience the cartridge. It's not a huge difference, but the springs that operate the gas system will help delay some of the reciprocal mass at least. Still, anyone that tells you they like to take a .50 AE DE to the range and shoot it for a couple hours is lying. The ammo is expensive and the bruising you'll get on your hand after a few magazines will be annoying at best. The gun is a novelty. Get a nice 9mm handgun in service size and you can shoot all day.

It was at the range that I shot it. Now I'm trying to remember if it was a revolver or not, I dont think it was because im pretty confident that I would have been kind of surprised to see it as a revolver. (I'm not much of a gun guy, but I do enjoy shooting them.)

I can almost guarantee that it wasn't a revolver. High caliber revolvers can have absurd recoil. A desert eagle is semi auto so some of the energy from the recoil is absorbed to chamber the next round.

If the recoil wasn't as bad as you thought, it wasn't a revolver
