Yes, on average, but there are still students (on every part of the spectrum) from different districts who act identical to students in districts totally opposite of theirs.

*I have taught in the inner city, and currently teach in a rural school district.

Like I said on average there are big differences, but at the same time there were super smart and well behaved kids at both schools, and kids who didn't care about anything and had behavioral problems at both schools. The difference was in the middle. Behavior and academics are bettter at my rural school, but I would say it is almost entirely due to their home lives.

Yes, absolutely there is, and depending on where youre at both sides can be awful. Too much entitlement or too much neglect is never a good thing. But yah, on the average its pretty clear that the better district will have better behaved kids.

This is for a lot of reasons.

  1. Those schools can straight up kick out any kids who cause problems.
  2. Usually smaller class sizes.
  3. Parents have to pay for their kids to go there so that means they kids come from a financially stable environment.
  4. There is usually a greater sense of family involvement in those kids of schools.

Dont forget teacher unions in public schools which, not on purpose mind you, end up causing bad teachers

Yes. I went to school at a high end school district. One of the best in the state. My teachers would often go on about how amazing it was to teach there compared to other schools in poorer places, and specifically it was the students behavior and work ethic.

Yes. That's why it's a joke. Public schools do worse and get paid more. It's not fair by any metric.

"Bussing" was never a bad thing.
That may go against my CE "gimmick", but I'm standing by that statement.

Don't blame bad teachers for these kids behaviors. It's their parents that set bad examples of behavior themselves and train their kids to believe that school is a low priority

In the end, the "bakesale" factor is the most important.
