By and large, people buy consoles because, even if the quality is inferior to a similarly-priced gaming PC, they can just sit down and play with little effort. Hook it up, select your game, go play.

On PC, you can do a lot of stuff consoles can't (mods, etc.), but it tends to require more knowledge of how to get things to run and experimentation to get things how you want them.

Look, I want a reason to buy the next round of consoles. As it is, I don't plan to and want to focus on PC gaming but I'm optimistic enough that something might come along to change that. But if no one gives a shit (with Sony apparently letting HZD get ported to PC and MS openly saying they aren't doing any sort of console exclusivity at launch) then I might as well give up now.

thats more annoying than difficult. Ive never run into the issue of a game designed for a console not being able to run on that console, whereas Ive had that problem on PC multiple times.

I hate PC confusing complicated mess. And I don't care about coming off looking like an idiot. But PC is utter garbage with all the things you have to worry about.

Honestly, if I didn't have so much tied to PC I'd go back to a console probably because of ease of use.

It's not that PC is particularly hard for me, but when something goes wrong it can be a huge pain to fix.

Im not taking shot at PC users. I legit can not get Sonic 3 to run. I got it off steam. I load up the launcher and select the game, yet nothing pops up on the virtual tv screen.

This. I have no idea about the inner workings of a pc or how to build one, nor know how to diagnose an issue with one if something were to go wrong or what parts need to be replaced and how.

Id rather just buy a playstation and plug it to the wall and tv and play games.

Consoles are easier for most people. Really, they're easier for all people and only some can be bothered to deal with PC gaming.

Eh, my perspective has greatly changed since the Switch. A console can simply offer a different play experience to be worth a purchase. PS4 is great for playing with my buddies, PC is really nice for graphical options and mod fixes (as well as dirt cheap prices for games).

For me it usually boils down to trying a preset while turning off all the stuff I don't like (typically motion blur and depth of field, plus bumping down shadow quality since I never look at shadows). Very rarely is it a long process, aside from Ubisoft games.

Setting up a pc is nowhere near the trouble of working on a car. Just to build one is less complicated than some lego sets, and there are literally thousands of people online who have already typed up guides to any pc problem you'll ever have.

If working on a car was so easy, I wouldn't understand why people didn't figure out how, either. But it's hardly comparable as is; cars are a far more important investment.

it's like somewhere along the line these people forgot that extended usage actually leads to familiarity. it's like some weird stockholm shit where "i'm too invested in this and therefore my brain has completely shut off from learning this other thing"
