The Near and Mello arc is still decent, tho L is greatest. But Light loses because his homeboy slightly deviates from his plan and ruins everything. Smh

iirc, in the manga, Matsuda (?) theorized that Near used to Death Note on Mikami to make him slip up so that Light might be exposed, or something like that

Near wasn't that bad, but he was kind of not needed because he was just another L. It was kind of dumb to have him replaced with the same character.

He wasn't L, though. L was a complete package, but Near was a detective without even L's minimal fetters, or the willingness to get his hands dirty if need be.

Oh, it might be that the requirement is that you give up your ownership of the Death Note. The Note being destroyed doesn't do it on its own.

As someone who doesn't care much for anime, I honestly loved Death Note. I'd like to check out more similar animes (short, gorgeous animation, cool plot that isnt just shonen battles, no hentai fan service)

As someone who's never watched it, Code Geass is something that's often compared to DN.

The thing with a lot of short series/OVAs is that they're pretty intensely... Anime. Denser, less penetrable for casuals.

Psycho-Pass is freaking amazing. Just stick to season 1. The rest of it is ok and I love season 3, but if you wanna keep it short, Season 1 is a solid story that concludes completely. You don't need to watch the rest unless you really want too.

season 3 was pretty good I was surprised

When you are god of the new world and can win a cat/mouse game against the worlds greatest detective, all other people are inferior to you and why the fuck would you rely on them for anything

Also his biggest mistake was using the police database. He literally incriminated himself.

moral of the story: if you want it done right do it yourself. His narcissism and thinking he couldnt be touched probably went too far. Lol

people always say something bad about the yotsuba arc, but it's very good. what about the story where matsuda gets himself in trouble and is close to getting killed. it's like the author was feeling it and knew he had to write about the kira investigation team instead of just laito all the time.
