I'm on Abyss Watchers in DSIII and every attempt requires an uphill sprint with several poisonous spear enemies on each path. Just boring to deal with.

I remember being wow-ed by Abyss Watchers the first time I tried this game, but now it just feels tedious to be honest. The first part really annoys me and engaging with him then throws off your memory of the second phase since his range and speed changes somewhat.

Worst boss run in the series IMO is either Blue Smelter or Lud and Zallen. DkS2 really had some brutal ones

It really doesn't help that on my PC this game on lowest settings runs worse than DSII or Sekiro on high.

If you're running straight up the stairs, you don't need to do that. If you hug the right side of the area, you only need to run past like two of the Ghrus.

The path from the bonfire to the Abyss Watchers fight is literally just 20 seconds of sprinting up the right side of the path.

Ds2 is a lot worse about it with places like the mirror knight and undead crypt

Just summon the npc for the fight if you can't beat them.

Agreed that Dark Souls 2 was the worst about this. Gauntlet runs up to the boss, then (in most cases) the boss is a complete pushover.

Just keep in mind that the one with the glowing red eyes is hostile to both you and the other Watchers. Play defensively until the AI latches onto itself and you can fight one on one with the third Watcher.

To be fair the vast majority of boss runs you can do without killing anything. It's a pretty minor consequence for being bad and dying to the boss
