Anyone else out there? Lol

Single Dad, with a three year old boy, and he's started getting into Sonic, and I let him play Sonic Mania.

I know he is a little young for games, but I rememberethings like, getting Sonic and Knuckles for my slim genesis when I was 5. So its a nice to play Sonic with him.

But.... He... Always... Deletes... The saved games.... So the gamer in me is like $!#$!, but the dad in me is like whatever.

Also its always... "My turn!"

Anyone else have gamer kids?

My grandmother and mother was huge in card, board, and video games. I grew up playing all of it. Hell theres some games my grandmother was a lot better at than me. She got well into triple digits every time she played doctor mario, she could beat Zombies Ate my Neighbors almost everytime she played. My mom was like a card shark on most cars games.

Just had our third kid in December. My six-year old got into games around the same age as yours. Mega Man X and Sonic were early favorites. He still loves both and he's stoked for the Sonic movie, we'll go see it and even if it's terrible I'm sure he'll love it. He plays the Switch and has made significant progress in Mario Odyssey. I've found maybe 150 moons but on his own he's closing in on 600. He likes Arms, and Blaster Master Zero. Kirby, and Tropical Freeze. And Hollow Knight! Needs help with that one but it surprises me how good he is at it. And he doesn't give up when he dies. Goes after his "ghost" and tries again :)

He's deleted my progress in a few games. Yooka-Laylee, for one, I have yet to finish because the game isn't as much fun in the beginning imo. Gets more fun later into the game, and I haven't been in the mood to play the opening chapters all over again.

My daughter likes games, too. She mostly plays mobile games geared at younger children.

I wrote a story about how my son would watch me play Dark Souls 3 on that board. I'll see if I can track it down...

My grandmother was beast at Super Mario 3 and she pretty much knows A Link To The Past by heart.

My son is 16. He's been playing games since he was 5, mostly because his mom would say "here's some games. Now leave me alone" and either sleep or spend time with her newest boyfriend. He knew almost nothing of how to play outside

He's gotten better about not playing only video games, but it took a lot of work

My nephew and niece just got a Xbox 1, PS4, and Switch for Christmas. My niece likes video games but my nephew is obsessed with them. If he didn't have to go to school, he'd sit there from sunrise to sunset playing games every single day of the week.

My kids were around 4 and 3 when they started playing games. We would play New Super Mario as a family. As they got better I would let them do more of the work and only take the lead when they were having trouble. I don't play as much as they do now. I want to go back and see how we would do on New Super Mario.

The National Academy of Gamers studied this issue in 2009. They found that simply being aware of the issues that Gamers are facing, and that many do not want to play with their Parents, will not help. The study focused on the amount of time Gamers spend playing games with their Parents. The results revealed that there is a good deal of friction between Parent and Child over the question of games and why, and a trend for one party to control over the other. Gaming Parenting strategies outlined in the study included the following:

- Assigning a pre-gaming activity or schedule that requires parental approval. This provides gamers with a non-threatening or uncomplicated environment in which to exercise.

- Gaming as a group to break down communication barriers. Parents who regularly share what they've experienced during gaming share information that could help gaming children overcome their inhibitions.

- Using rest to decrease the body's arousal. Games help players focus on the mechanics rather than the spectator details that attract so many attention.

- Prescribing sedatives or healing herbs to parents who are concerned about their child's use of video games.
