I was typing up my thoughts so far having mostly cleared the left side of the flowchart, but the topic purged while I was typing it :/

Alright so my thoughts so far (assuming So is definitely the cyclops killer, also a lot of this will prob be dumb):

So I haven't finished the first first path I went on, where the boss killed So. but given that he's the cyclops killer, she's either manipulating him or she suspected/discovered he was the killer and knowing the control he had over the police + investigation took matters into her own hands. TBH I think it's the former though.As for why she uploaded the video that incriminates herself, she knew it would be found by Date but I don't know why she would do this to herself though. As for the the original cyclops killers, the link to Iris and the Boss is clear. The original killer knows that So is the new killer due to his partnership with the yakuza. What is So's motive for the new killings? I think it's definitely related to Shoko's business dealings, but I'm not too sure how Renju got caught up in all of this despite his relationship with both Shoko and Iris. Could it potentially be that he was targeting victims "closer and closer" to Iris for a purpose? I was thinking if his final victim was to be Iris and all the killings up until then were to "get to her" or something, they skipped her mother so that can't be it. Maybe Iris wasn't the intended final target and maybe it's actually Hitomi. The original killers somnium seems to represent him + hitomi going about their daily lives, while someone (likely Rohan or Boss) being a constant presence/threat that kept growing.

For the Ota ending, I'm fairly certain he's cleared of any involvement in the conspiracy. Mayumis somnium doesn't seem to hold any greater meaning other than the obvious which is her memories of Ota.
Ota wasn't in the car with Iris when she went to So's mansion. I believe Iris did kill So. How did she get past all the guards? She is involved with him.

Iris does have memories of the original cyclops killings, but they weren't very clear memories. Given what we know about her now I have a feeling they aren't suppressed memories. I have a feeling that the red girl in those memories might have been her mother? Especially considering that the original cyclops killer + Hitomi had a relationship. At least I hope that the red girl wasn't Iris because that would imply something very bad :/
The way that I interpret the version of her somnium with all the drawings is that she is very aware of the killings etc happening around her during her life and it's making her twisted (hence the creepy laughing). As for the version with the recordings of the murders, I think it implies that while she knows who's doing the murders maybe she wasn't involved herself and she is just "spectating" them. But her memory of Date killing someone was very clear so I feel like that part at least is very true.

As for Date, as he is now I don't think he's the type of guy that would murder people. But before he lost his memories he could have been a very different person. Given that Boss is involved with the original killings, and Date was in Iris's memories of one of the killings, I don't think it's a coincidence that Date ended up working with Boss after his memory loss and especially on this particular case. I don't think Date's somnium is particularly relevant to the overall conspiracy. It just represents IMO that the most important thing in his life right now is Mizuki and her well-being.

I have half a mind to say that Mizuki is uninvolved, but I'm not confident in that. She does have the first and therefore the likely most important somnium. It could be that Renju knew what was going to go down in the future and wanted her sent away. Her Somnium seems difficult to interpret. He is "in center of the storm" happening around her and she's trying to hide. Iris's body/corpse is below her and I have no clue what the implications of that are. Could it be something she desires?

Anyways, thinking is hard. Im gonna keep playing now

Ah, Mizuki recovered after all. Thought I was gonna have to play through the other half of the game with her being essentially dead.

So's somnium had a pretty good background track, and listening to the murder in reverse through the warehouse doors was neat

Just remembered, Date has memories of the Hitomi shooting incident a few years ago. The hell is that supposed to imply. He must be separate from #86 because in the left hand side of the flowchart he syncs with him.

Also, not sure how I feel about this backstory about Iris. I mean its sweet/heartwarming, but I just know shes gonna be like a psycho or something

woah woah hold up. nearly burst out laughing here. So #89 knocked out Date, threatened/held pewter hostage and escaped. The first thing Pewter says afterwards is a unenthusiastic "awww darn"

How do you feel about the right route compared to the left? I actually did things in the same order you did and I remember feeling so confused at the point your at. No one extra dies, We keep seeing visions of the future.

Somnium changing the real world becoming a theme on that path was really weird after the gritty dark murder mystery of the left side.

I'm really excited to know which route you go in the next Somnium.

I havent gotten to the next somnium yet but likely will after work in a few hours. I dont have a complex reasoning behind which routes i pick first. I just pick based on what the "most correct" (imo) choices are. Like the first one where you can either repair the photo or release the balloons. They goal was to heal her mental trauma slightly so it made more sense to repair the photo. Same with the second fork on the left. Turning the dial was a "softer" approach compared to hitting the TV.
I dont know what the next choice is but you might be able to predict my next route based on that

I do love the murdee mystery aspect of the left hand side, but was let down when i found out the killer was So. If we actually are dealing with alternative dimensions or changing the future, i hope someone else ends up being the killer for realsies. Its just that So was essentially a background character and it didnt feel impactful when he was outted. It was way more impactful when Boss made her move

It does feel like the right hand side of the flowchart is starting to get deeper into the sci fi aspect i expected to see when first starting this game. Im sure someone will die at some point right

If the "somnium changes the real world" thing is legit, it seems like its similar to that bunny girl senpai anime, where the view of the masses is what is reflected by reality.

Gotta go with my guts on this one and not trust her. She's putting on a good show, but how is it that she can interact with Date in somnium? Thats definitely fishy. I like how the path actually splits way earlier than it shows in the minimap at the bottom left.

Iris is someone I really disliked at first and loved by the end of the game. I actually liked her so much I ended up watching her Youtube series after I finished the game. It was interesting haha.

Spoilers don't bother me so asking in here. This game looks cool and I was considering getting it on the Switch but it's very expensive and I've never played a game like it from what I can tell.

Anything cheaper around that would be a good indication of whether I'd like it?

The Zero Escape series should be a lot cheaper and its very similar to this. Same company made it as well.
The Danganronpa series is by the same company as well, and shares similarities with this but is generally a lot different in tone.

I'm glad that your past that, the ride to the end is crazy and I loved every moment of it.

Just finished the game. Absolutely loved the the entire last 30% of the game or so . The first 70% was excellent was well but once everything clicked into gear it was on a whole other level. I was doubting at some points that it would get to the same level as 999 and VLR but I'm glad I was wrong. In hindsight I can't believe how dumb some of my guesses were as to what was happening.

Was definitely bummed out about Aiba dying but glad she came back even if it was a little predictable.

Whats with that random ass dance party for the credits tho

Ya, I hit the same thing, I went and checked out the real life Youtube channel for A-set. I recommend that at least if you want a little more of the world. It's not perfect but it's pretty fun. I myself don't know what to go to for gaming now. I'm playing Dragon Ball Z Kakarot... but obviously not the same feelings haha.

I shill the series a bit but I do recommend the Trails in the Sky trilogy. They aren't mystery thrillers like this game and Zero Escape, but they do have a lot of lovable characters, excellent world-building, a great story to immerse yourself in etc.

If you're looking for other mystery thrillers though, the Higurashi series and Umineko series have very similar feelings to this game tbh. No sci fi though, and they are true visual novels so no gameplay

Ill check out the youtube channel tomorrow

I myself want to know what other games are out there similar to this though
