Should cops that shoot unarmed people be rewarded with paid administrative leave?

Maybe if they didn't get a paid vacation they would think twice before shooting someone.

We should get rid of unions so we don't keep paying for these power tripping cops and child molesting teachers to get put on paid leave so they can be "investigated"

unionizing saved my profession. It was being crushed by capitalists who had no idea how dangerous the job was and were willing to see monthly turnover, accept workplace deaths, and pay $10/hour for 60 hours/week

When even just a few crews unionized in different parts of the country, our pay doubled and hours halved and safety equipment is standard now

I would be terrified of a non-unionized police force tbh

Police unions are radically different than, say, a steelworkers union. To compare the two is intellectually dishonest.

They should be force to line up and take a bullet to a non-vital area of the body and pay their own hospital bills.

Then they would know how it feels to get shot.

I wasn't being serious. I'm very much pro union as long as they're active in helping their workforce.

Ive never understood this unarmed argument. Unless the suspect was already searched or is naked, how could a cop know if they were unarmed until after the fact? If there was reason to believe they could be armed, then it is absolutely justified.

If someone is resisting arrest or fighting, you already know theyre not right in the head. When they start reaching to their waistband, you dont take that chance that the idiot is just pulling their pants up.

unarmed is just the most bait worthy statement. Every situation is different given the circumstances..

look what an unarmed ufc fighter did to Christy Mack. If he fought a small woman cop, unarmed you dont think it could reach a point where she might need to shoot?

They should be fired and permanently banned from holding any law enforcement job ever again, at the very least.

Ever notice how in Europe we have their police manage to take in suspects alive without having to fire a single shot? Hell, US army rules of engagement are they can't fire unless they confirmed being fired on first/ had several iterations of attempting to get somebody to stop and say who they are but had multiple signs that they were a potential threat. IE a really suspicious car that wouldn't roll down its window and kept driving towards the gate to the army base.

majority of the time, those police force call their armed section to handle. Army rules of engagement are not a set rule. Every mission is different with a different SOP.
