Wondering what other peoples more in-depth opinions are on this?

Personally, it's good if it negates crunch, but an ideal scenario is that the video game industry was run by developers, instead of "Toner heads" from Finance and Marketing, because I would love it if we could go without announcements for anything further away than say, a year (less would be great ofc).

I really don't see why people get hyped for some game, getting a simple CGI Teaser on E3 with actual gameplay coming, perhaps as a teaser for the next years E3.

I'm I'm eagerly awaiting it, excited for it and all, ugh, it's like a blow to the gut, like the kind that makes you throw it all up. That said, it's really rare for a game to get me that excited, and even though there is a game like that on the way, in less than a week actually, there's long been news that the game is facing some difficulty that will very likely result in another delay, so I'm very much expecting it and it isn't going to bother me. However, comfortable and accepting that a delay is going to happen, if the game doesn't get delayed, it's like winning the lottery, and before you can finish counting the zeros, you receive a notification that your most hated relative has died, leaving you their entire inheritance.

It is a huge red flag that the game is not in a state to be released, and likely won't be even after the delay.

Been along time since a game met my expectations and that pretty much makes me not mind if they are delayed that much anymore. There are still some exceptions though, and being let down really is hard on me (big trigger for depression).

I'm seriously looking forward to Phantasy STar Online 2 to be released in the US, I might even break down and get an Xbox whatever it's called, so I can play it earlier (they have a beta for it already I think).

If that got delayed I would be really sad. It's more of an older game (Been like the #1 mmo in japan for a decade) so it has a better chance of being good, and I loved the first (I watched 2 hours of lets play and it seems VERY similar to the first, which is a good thing.

Other that that game there isn't really any i'm dying to play anymore, and most of them I will just wait for a sale, so a delay doesn't matter much anyway. My backlog is so large/long with so many prime games (FFXV, Persona 5, DQ X1 and Builders (and now builders 2 I guess), Fallout 4 etc etc) that it's hard to really get worked up about a single player game. I generally jump back into Path of Exile if I want an MMO for now, and am just waiting for PS 2.

I'd prefer that the developers take the time to polish and perfect their game rather than rush it and have game breaking bugs or content that falls flat. Especially with a game as iconic as Final Fantasy 7. If they do not meet expectations then they could be letting down a lot of fans.

If your life comes crashing down because a game you were expecting didn't come out when they said it would then you probably have bigger problems than a game not coming out when you expected it to.

1. Let down
2. Frustrated
3. Horny
4. Hungry
5. Back to not caring

This process normally lasts a few minutes.

There's very few games I actually feel hyped for.

If it's a game from a series I love, then why would I want it right away if there's something's wrong with it?

All I have is patience. Waiting longer means nothing to me

Mighty No 9 got delayed a lot. I was sad. And in the end I didnt even buy the damn game.

Still... its better than nothing.

I don't think I've been anxious for a game release in several years, the exception being Persona 5. Too many uninspired, lazy big budget games I think.

That sucks.. but Id rather it be delayed so they can do it right than rush it.

I don't really care unless it's either a short delay or they don't delay shortly before release.

I don't care, because I very rarely buy games less than a few months to a year after release anyway.

It doesn't help that I think I've bought maybe one game within the first month after release in the last five years or so, and that wound up biting me in the ass. So that just reinforces my "Fuck you, I'll buy the game when it's 50% off, after you've fixed all the damned bugs" mentality. There is zero reward to being an early adopter these days.

I might think differently if I played online multiplayer and had to get in as soon as possible to be competitive, but I find online multiplayer to be completely tedious and boring, so that doesn't motivate me in any way.

It took 27 years to get Tron 2. I'm ready to wait until 2040 to see Tron 3.

It doesn't really affect me because I usually don't pay attention to release dates. I also don't buy games right when they come out. I wait for used versions, and if there aren't any, I wait for the price to go down.

I don't really keep track of upcoming games. I usually don't start to get console games until near the end of the generation. For PC I wait until it's put on sale or some sort of definitive edition is released.

Only if they're going to go full Shadow of Mordor on it, and release a game that transcends its status as a licensed tie-in. If it's going to be another bland 3D platformer like Butterflix Adventures, then I have almost no interest. Almost.
