a bunch! i want to say every time i was searching for a job it took a couple interviews to get back into the groove.

the more comfortable you are with the interview process, the better you will perform.

Not that I've done these myself, but the pockets of advice I have are: always tell the truth but up-play your true strengths, always rely on the interviewer to disqualify you, never assume your interviewer's or recruiter's role at the company, always mention the good things about your past employers, and never take phone interviews while on your current employer's property unless you have their support and permission to do so.

Hopefully you can imagine some interesting stories based on those pitches

Funniest interview I had was one where the interviewer started complaining that nobody wanted to take the job- right in the middle of interviewing me.

The only one was when I was 16 I had an interview for retail that was doomed anyway because I didn't say I was available for the hours they wanted. I was given the simple question of "What are some of your leadership experiences?" and my anxious brain locked up and I think I made the Jim Halpert face for like two uncomfortable minutes and just asked to move on.

Yep! It was a surprise group interview for some job while I was in high school and everyone before me was all like gung ho OMG I LOVE THIS JOB IT SOUNDS AMAZING and I just couldnt muster up the ability to care that much. It was my turn to speak so I just said my name and that I was kind of a big deal with double thumbs up and sat back down. Great times.

Yes. I was interviewed for a police dispatcher position after having an agreement with my previous employer to change my departure from a termination to a resignation. They asked why I left, I gave an explanation, and then the interviewer said that my last employer had told them that they had fired me.

I contacted my lawyer afterwards. I have no idea whether the employer corrected my file, but Im working now.

If I recall correctly this was a position for a very obviously risky startup. When someone says 'nobody wants to take the job' they are really saying 'nobody with the skills wants to take the job'

at that same dispatcher position? you should have just lied and said you never worked at your last employer, or listed another employer.

yea, when i was leaving uni i had 2 interviews in the middle of my exams. one was an assessment center about 4 hours from where i live that lasted the whole day and tho i got told i did really well in the activity section, the interview was a complete disaster where they just asked me to solve a load of algorithms which i gave up on. the interview lasted maybe less than 5 mins before the guy gave on me, i just stuck around in the assessment center coz my train was at later in the day.

probs wouldn't have accepted either job tho. first one was in a dingy little office above a corner shop with no door between the office and the shop so you could hear everything happening in the corner shop (the shop had a bell on the door). beggars can't be choosers and all that but i knew i could do better. 2nd one wanted you to do a 3 month unpaid training course lmao like fuck that. i'm just graduating uni, i'm broke.

Had an interview where the pregnant receptionist hated me, so my actual interview with the team lead went great and was going long, she busts thru the door and rants about how hes wasting his time cause I'm trash

Another interview for an entry level retail position, I must have offended the woman interviewing me thinking I'd get hired and move up over her position cause she super went sour and mean during the interview. I found a job right after and took it but this retail outlet called me constantly trying to get me to come work for them after.

An in-work interview that was formality, they were really interviewing to downsize the department and they liked the other guy better cause he was model looking. They downsized, I got let go, and within a year they had to reupsize my old department because he caused such friction that the staff under him mass walked out. They hired a woman over him, and demoted him down to a smaller role.

Had an interview with a guy at this small little shipping office, I could tell he hated everything I said. I got a decline email before I even got home. A friend that worked in another office for this company told me they hired the hottest woman for that job. And a week later she quit and the job was open again, l o l.

Definitely tanked interviews in my teen years, the weirdest one is when I did really bad and they hired me. I ended up quitting as the job was a tough sales job for a teen and they gave 0 training.

If I'd lied then I'd have had an eleven year gap in my employment history. Anyway, my lawyer contacted my previous employer's lawyer and told her to fix my shit. No idea if that happened because I told my current employer the truth about what happened, but at that point I also had job training for that area as well as the fact that the director at my old job had gone to jail, which raised the possibility of corruption having been involved.

tl;dr: Interview went badly because my previous employer stabbed me in the back.

One time I went into an interview and the first thing they said to me was, "Just to make it clear, this isn't a scam."

I said, "That's a GREAT way to start an interview."

I didn't get the job.
