This 17-year-old gamer in the United Kingdom was given the medical attention he needed thanks to his online friend calling for paramedics from 5,000 miles away. Earlier this month, Aidan Jackson had been playing video games from his bedroom in Widnes, England while his parents watched television downstairs. He had been playing with his 20-year-old friend Dia Lathora from Texas when he suddenly started to make sounds of what she could only describe as a seizure. When Dia started asking her friend if he was okay, she heard no responseso she immediately began scouring the internet for the correct emergency phone number in the English town. After Dia finally settled on dialing the non-emergency law enforcement number, she forced herself to stay calm and could explain to the dispatcher that she was calling from America to help her UK friend. Minutes later when paramedics arrived on Aidans street, his parents assumed that they were headed to a different household. We were at home watching TV and Aidan was upstairs in his room. The next thing we noticed was two police cars outside with flashing lights, Aidans mother Caroline Jackson told The Liverpool Echo. I assumed they were in the area for another reason and then they ran up to the front door. They said there was an unresponsive male at the address. We said we hadnt called anyone and they said a call had come from America. I immediately went to check on Aidan and found him extremely disorientated. The teen has since undergone a number of tests in order to determine the cause of the seizure. Since this is the second time in one year that Aidan has suffered from a fit, his parents are extraordinarily grateful for Dias actions. Dia had our address, but didnt have any contact numbers, so it was amazing she managed to get help from so far away, Jackson told the news outlet. Ive spoken to her and expressed our thanksshes just glad she could help. We always say to the kids, be careful who you speak to online, but in this case, it was invaluable. https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/teen-saved-from-seizure-by-friend-from-5000-miles-away/ https://i.imgur.com/DfXM9Yz.jpg Just think if that kid wasnt playing video games that day and was studying or practicing piano or feeding the homeless, he'd be dead.... Whoa nice. If it hasn't happened to you by now, it's probably not something you're prone to, feel free to ignore. Though, you have tiny offspring, right? It said in the article that he was extremely disoriented, not unconscious/non responsive. I had a few as a kid and while terrifying, they are not lethal for the most part. --- nu-horsemen 4evar [A GameFAQs Moderator was deleted by this message] ... Copied to Clipboard!

Just think if that kid wasnt playing video games that day and was studying or practicing piano or feeding the homeless, he'd be dead....This is really unlikely. I've had epilepsy since I was a few weeks old, and unless the area you're in is particularly dangerous (like if you're on a cliff or swimming or something), seizures are very, very, rarely fatal. I've had a metric crapton of grand mal seizures, and so I speak from experience when I say that they require very little care. Just bring the person to the ground gently and clear the area to make sure that they don't hurt themselves with their flailing (assuming it even is a grand mal; some people just black out and fall down). DON'T put anything in their mouth, as the whole "swallowing your tongue" thing is a load of shit, and it makes it more likely for the person to damage their teeth biting down. And unless the person has some serious injury from the seizure, an ambulance is unnecessary. All that's needed is a nice nap. When I had seizures in public people would always call the ambulance which was pretty annoying because I would wake up in the hospital and have to go through the discharge process. Also one of the dudes (not sure if it was a bystander or ambulance worker) cut the strap on my backpack off, and I'm fairly certain it would've been easy to take it off normally. I really liked that backpack too... But yeah, at the very least the ambulance rides were only like $150 though, and not like $2000 or however much I see in the horror stories here. tl;dr Seizures are rarely fatal. Nice of that girl to be worried about a friend, but an ambulance was likely unnecessary. --- Bun bun :3 ... Copied to Clipboard!
