Was just going to cut out the middle man and go with the book of Mormon.

But since you kind if beat me to the punch...

Battlefield Earth or any Scientology book really should count.

So do all of the SMT games, along with nearly every other religion. Some heavier than others.

It's not even the reboot - the original version from the 70s was based pretty strongly on some Mormon concepts. The reboot dialed those back a bit, but then went full all-in on concepts like Space Jesus, and the show ends with literal Adam and Eve, more or less.

Yeah, but because the Japanese don't really understand actual Judaism or Christianity, it's one of those cases where they're mostly referencing names and concepts, but completely out of context in ways that render them mostly meaningless.

It's about a spaceship that can create a planet built by humans and sent into space before a race called the Dregs destroys Earth (they consider humans a threat for one reason or another).

Without going into much spoiler territory, the Reboot itself remains vague on most religious comparisons, the comics and other side material make them more explicit.

Orson Scott Card's Homecoming series is a retelling of the Book of Mormon.

http://www.hatrack.com/osc/articles/openletter.shtml

It's pretty good; when I read it, I knew nothing about the story that the Book of Mormon actually tells, so I guess the series worked on me.
