It's fantastic. That ending ;_; Def my fav FFIX played got to disc 4 like a decade plus ago but never finished it, but finally replayed it and finished it.
I've played most FFs but only completed 1 and 2 (gba), X, 7 (another long time coming, finished it last week) and now IX. Lol i played like ten different FF games before i played even a single DQ, but i've beaten all 10 mainline DQ games over the last couple years. (also beaten FFTA 1 and 2)

IX has easily the best cast of any FF imo. Vivi is my favorite but i like em all. Particularly Dagger and Zidaine. Quina rules, one of the most enjoyable joke characters in a game>>>>>>> Yuffie. Main party was Zidaine, Dagger, Vivi, and Amarant. I would have used Steiner all the way, but when i got him back he was like half the level of Amarant and i sure as fuck didn't want to bother, your non-main party members not leveling up is moronic. Trance fucking sucks. The OSt is good but quite inferior to 7, 8 and 10 imo. Despite these misgivings it's still the best. Never healed during the final bosses, hyper offensive worked pretty well throwing Wing Edges, Casting flare, Ark summon and attacking with Zidaine. Necron is quite stupid plotwise. Also lol at Zidaine going back for Kuja "FREIZA DESERVES MERCY!"

This track is a true standout though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItQnuHKH394 Wouldn't mind seeing a re-imagining of IX someday. And if they do it, i'm not sure there is any excuse to not add Beatrix to the party.

Planning to finally finish Lost Odyssey next, after that i FF 4-6, and Chrono Trigger need to be finished like i should have done a decade ago (like LO, IX, 7). Can't finish Xenogears because the second to last boss literally has a glitch that makes it pretty much impossible.

Necron really pissed me off the first time I played the game, simply from the and now, a completely random dude is the final boss aspect. It shoulda been some form of Kuja.

Agreed on the ending. Arguably my favorite ending of any video game Ive ever beaten.

Absolutely loved the characters. It had a lot of really nice moments. Dont know why, but I really liked Dagger cutting her hair to show she had changed as a person (not sure if Im in the minority there).

One thing that did disappoint me was when you split into four groups of two... I thought I was gonna need to do four separate boss battles with limited characters that might not go well together - I was excited for the possibilities. And then you just do the one fight with Zidanes group.

i was fine with that, Eiko,Freya, Steiner, and Quina were woefully underleveled. Though to be fair the battle with Zidaine and Quina was quite easily, and i had 1 strong member paired with 1 weak member and i Amarant, Dagger, and Vivi should have been powerful enough to power through with minimal help from the other member. Had Quina 1000 needles until they died and just didn't bother reviving.

Oh and also i'd loved to be able to fucking skip summon animations. I used Ark with Boost Multiple times for Trance Kuja and Necron and it toooook foooooooorever.

i loved it back when I played it a decade ago, but stopped before Memoria and never picked it back up for some reason, (did the same with 7).

The amount of games i've stopped over the years (usually ones i've enjoyed a lot!) is absurd.

But after years of minimal gaming i'm starting to just go through them.

The cutting hair thing is one of the most cliche things ever in Japanese media.

I had a blast when I was playing through IX, but it was also my first FF game and I was quite young so I dont know how Id like it now. I do remember being disappointed that some of the coolest cities (I think the main one was called Cleyra, kept getting destroyed right after they were introduced.

I am waiting for the next version of Moguri Mod before playing it again. Will definitely mod Beatrix back in now that it should be compatible with Hades Workshop. May also go ahead and make changes to Save the Queen while I'm at it.
