I don't trust any kind of post-Genesis Sonic game even if it's a good one. FE:Three Houses > Automata Maybe. Actually I have no clue on anything, but Three Houses seemed like a pretty strong game in the GotY poll.

I have a lot of respect for Soulsbornes on GameFAQs these days (maybe too much considering Bloodborne's 2015 match), and I can't help feeling skeptical about Sonic Mania, especially since Sonic 2 wasn't very strong in 2015. Bloodborne > Nier in three close but comfortable matches, IMO.

Bloodborne scored nearly 45% against FFXII in the last game contest, which is enough for me to give it this fourpack if we assume that it's managed to maintain its release year strength.

I'm not sure how impressive that is in 2015. FFXII didn't even look that good in GOTD1, much less 5 years later. X-Stats say it'd get 27.65% on Majora's Mask, which is okay, I guess. Not terrible, but nothing I don't think Automata could match.

Bloodborne also rocked a (by this contest's standards) loaded poll including Witcher 3 before inexplicably bombing in the final. people took exclusives seriously in those goty polls sometimes.

I'm not too familiar with Nier - is it primarily a story-driven RPG type of game, or is it primarily an action game with a trippy story? If 2B is this decade's Dante, there is no way I take her game over something like Bloodborne.

Is it? Valkyria Chronicles got 24% and I don't think much of that game. That projects to Bloodborne getting 56.40% on VC.

Yeah, my question here is more whether Three Houses beats Automata than whether Bloodborne does. I'm still not sure what to think of RE2make here.

Where did Persona 5 come from?

Persona 5 is a legit top 5 game This decade. Or at least close to it. None of these games are Top 10

Nier is a wildcard

We just don't know how its going to perform.

Bloodborne is going to be pretty solid and weve seen FE isn't going to be a slouch. Its arguably the strongest FE game to date on what is the most popular system. So we'll see.

Automata yes, BB i don't know. Its still on PS4 that runs pretty badly. Automata has now launched on xbox, has a huge following on PC with the mods and is a cult classic.

I don't know that I've been extolling it as a strong game. I just think it'd have a better chance than Generations. For some reason, Allen left it out of GOTY the year it came out, so it's hard to say. I guess I should ask you how well you think Mega Man 9 or 10 would do, because that's basically what Mania was, a throwback game playing on the nostalgia of the fanbase.

Mega Man 9 made a contest! it.. didn't do great, though I guess compared to this competition it's not bad. I would think MM9 would be way better than Sonic Mania given how big of a deal MM9 was vs. my perception of what Sonic Mania was to the Sonic fanbase.

Oh yeah, MM9 came at a time when people thought there would never be a Classic game again. I feel like if Generations or Colors (which were considered good games by the Sonic fanbase) had never happened, Mania would have been an even bigger deal because of how long it would've been since the last great Sonic game. I'm not sure how much people care about individual Mega Man games vs. individual Sonic games here, even though we know Mega Man himself is a good deal stronger than Sonic these days.

to expound on that a little, I think Sonic Mania is more like Mega Man 11 - a game that I wouldn't take to go very far at all.

Oh, I don't have much faith in Sonic Mania to beat anything noteworthy. I just really like the game and would like to see Sonic get some representation. It could win a match with the right placement, but I wouldn't expect more than that unless something weird happens.

Automata fits into the mold that I think Shadow of the Colossus fit in - that being gaining respect over time. I feel like in a "Game of the Decade" contest, it fits the mold closer to an SotC or a Bioshock, which did pretty damn well for themselves compared to their baselines in 2010. Bloodborne has that to a lesser extent, having up to three souls games and Sekiro there to drain it; depending on where it is in bracket and how many FromSofts get in, I feel like fatigue might be an actual knock against it - not much but enough to sway a percent or so.

Automata > Three Houses feels right, though I wouldn't be surprised to have that flop against me if it were in bracket or if one of the Three Houses voice actors that people follow gets bored on Twitter (because that's really on brand from what I've seen of at least Claude's VA's stuff).

I feel pretty confident in 3H and Nier winning their first matches (moreso in Nier) but against one another is a bit more tricky. Sided with 3H ultimately.

I love Bloodborne but I don't feel safe picking it against a Nintendo near-GotY here.

2B is probably stronger than Automata by not by that much.

It's a pretty sprawling action RPG with a very memorable atmosphere and story.
