What's the point of buying a desk that looks like shit? Especially when desks in general don't have as much purpose these days. And unless the Canadian dollar has tanked, it's also overpriced for what you're getting.

Here's the thing: He could have gone cheaper while likely finding something nicer, probably even without going the used route.

Here is the thing: You're not the TC so nobody gives a fuck if you like said desk or not. For the record the desk is fine to me and will probably look even better once setup.
