I went to two different schools: one for elementary school and the other for high school. I do not have the exact numbers with me but

Out of the top 50 schools in the area, at the time, the elementary school placed in the 30's for graduation rate, testing/scores, and attendance. The high school placed top 10 for graduation rate, top 20 for scores and 20 for attendance. This was in the 90's

The only thing that has changed is the high school. It is now in the 30's across all categories. The only thing the elementary school and their district beats the high school is on spending for athletics.

They suckered the taxpayers into a new 5 million dollar renovation and field, claiming it was justified as it will help them field winners again, especially football. They placed 3rd in their division for state in 1999 and never want to forget that glory

I'd say my middle school and elementary school were probably above average, at least by the standards of public schools in florida.

I went to a private military high school with a fairly heavy focus on college admissions. I'd absolutely say my high school was, although it was probably overpriced.

Yes, our county school system was ranked in the top 100 and my high school (Walter Johnson) was in the top 150 in the country at the time(and my high school's AP History was ranked best in the world by the College Board)
(it's now ranked #1,539 in the country, out of about 26,407, #38 in Maryland, #50 in the Washington DC/Northern Virginia/Maryland area)

i have no idea what the metrics are for that, but the first school i went to was the school all the smart kids went to, they had the special programs or whatever, and you weren't really prioritized if you weren't in one of those. which is dumb, since i went there because i lived in the district, not because i wanted to go there specifically.

however the second school i went to was much more for the regular kids and i flourished a lot more there

neither was a bad school necessarily but high school largely didn't do much for the rest of my life

The schools have always been fine. It's just some of the pupils that wasn't. That could be said about any school though I'd imagine.

I'm american, so hell no. Although I enjoyed my high school untill the end of my 3rd year when everything fell apart.

Edit: I assume you meant education wise? Otherwise they were perfectly nice with no threat or anything like that.

My secondary school literally shut down in year 9. We barely had any teachers, and even the fucking supply teachers rarely lasted 2 days.

I went to private Catholic schools, so no. They were horribly underfunded and outdated. We literally had typewriters until my junior year (2006).

On top of that every single student had to take a "religion" class one period every day, so time was taken away from actual studies to learn about "religion". Which would have been fine, except the only religion that was ever talked about was Catholicism and there were huge information gaps even then.

I went to school in a really small, shitty, rundown town in California, and we almost got taken over by the state because of our low test scores when I was in 10th grade. I hated school and graduated in the middle of my class.

My parents moved to a nicer city after I graduated and my siblings went to what's considered a "good" school in a nice part of that city. Funny thing, I'm the only one to go to college, get a good job, and be independent. The school didn't really matter.

The school that I attended has ranked and still ranks very high in whatever measurement they use for that stuff. As you can see, I was a typical kid and knew our school was fairly advanced but being that typical kid I didn't pay attention to anything. I was lazy. I could have blamed the schools, teacher or the American school system but I know the stuff was taught, I just didn't care to try to learn it.

Still, by my junior year in high school I got my butt in gear and worked hard. Ended up with a fairly good GPA and even did better in college than I did in high school.

So yeah, my school was good but I didn't do my part to take advantage of that.

Large city schools, elementary, jr. high, high school, excellent academics and resources, graduated in 1964, when grades actually meant something, long before politics ruined the US educational system.

Schools definitely were different when I was a kid. I used to carry a Swiss Army Knife all the time, and my teachers knew I had it. One of them even kept borrowing it.

Now they "borrow it" to get the kids in trouble with 0 tolerance.

So yea, they were good schools.
