but what im not a fan of is how it gets dark sometimes during action sequences. they did it in fate zero and in unlimited blade works as well I think. Not a fan of that

but the actual animation quality is fantastic regardless

It doesnt have the usual upbeat music that plays during beatout. Instead it's gloomy, sad etc.

One analysis is the scene is from the bad guy's perspective that i think it's true because it makes sense. The villain flashback happened too so it's like we are in the villains eyes.

Just look at how terrifying deku looks before the final punch. It's supposed to signify the villain like "aww crap it's over. I am dead my lifelong dream is ruined by these meddling kids who also looks like fucking demons from hell punishing me"

the lead-up to all of that was pretty dark. we got a rather grotesque look at what makes overhaul overhaul; i'm not sure upbeat music would've really fit tonally. gloomy and grave fit. he really needed to have someone punch the shit out of him.

speaking of perspective, i did kind-of feel like they gave overhaul a bit of a helpless puppy dog look for a second there, like one of the versions of godzilla where he was the good guy.
