Board 8 > Should a portion of the GotD bracket be dedicated to indie games?

As somebody who at one point hoped for an indie contest, this seems like something worth asking.

How would you like to see this handled? Group indies together a bunch, split them up a bunch, or somewhere inbetween?

I think I'd like to see a few one-on-one matches - at least having one or two indie games able to win a match would be nice. That being said, almost all of them are weak enough here that any further accommodation would damage the general quality of the bracket.

I'm voting for some four-packs here -- I don't know how many indie games we'll actually get and there's just going to be quite a few games stronger than any indie game.

There is room to start some shit as a bracket maker though if you have some four-packs or even most of an eight-pack that's mostly indie but you have some weaker but highly-acclaimed AAA game in the mix. Something like.....

Undertale
Celeste

VVVVVV
Stardew Valley

Super Meat Boy
Cuphead

FTL: Faster Than Light
Bioshock Infinite

Just seems like a good opportunity to scare bracket makers with a small wolf in a pen with monster hens.

Not necessarily a hard number that had to be met, but there is definitely a few that deserve a spot

With a 128-size bracket, I'm certain we will see a fair few indies.

I honestly dont think they need a handicap with a bracket this weak. youll probably see a Shovel Knight or a Meat Boy or Ori or whatever end up winning a couple of matches due to their competition being so bad.

Yeah, we'll have some powerhouses, but a lot of games won't have the same strength as a midcarder in this contest like a midcarder in an overall contest would. This will largely be a battle of what games are we still playing.

We should also put all the SNES games in the same division because Mario RPG could never compete with Grand Theft Auto.

Nah, but I think they should have a division that largely has no Nintendo or Square in it like they did in GOTD.

Never's a strong word and we're all aware of the Halo > SMB gaffe SB made, so nothing is certain here.

Still, this decade only for a group of largely-30-something-year-olds won't have nostolgia be such a determining factor as SMRPG surprised us with in the overall contest.
