It all started when his mom was alive. She was older and a little sick. It was hard for her to walk all the way to the curb. So, they built a mailbox on the house closer to the door so she could get to it. The post office got mad because it was a little more walking. Then they got mad because he had to park a little lawn, so there was a car in their way. It wasnt, but they still complained. And then tattled to the city, who also wrote him a letter about not parking in the lawn.

So, after his mother passed away, he moved the mailbox back to the street. Now theyre mad because they say his cars parked too close to the mailbox. But he cant park in his lawn until he gets the driveway a little bigger to fit both cars. So, he has to park on the street. So, they said they wouldnt deliver his mail anymore. But only his. Hes not even in front of his mailbox. Other people on the street park in front of the mailbox, and none of them have received the letter. They say that it takes too long. And they shouldnt get out of their van.

Which is probably a lie. Most of the houses here actually have the mailboxes on the house. He street is one of the few that have mailboxes by the street in this town. And most postal workers actually do walk the mail. And for two years, he had a very organized postal worker who did just that. But theres a new guy. And right when he started is when he got the notice...

The post office is trying to fuck him over. Theyre pretty shitty. He doesnt know what to do. He has nowhere else to put his car. And he cant park it in front of the house until he gets the extra driveway. Which is pretty costly. And you have to work with the city. And that wouldnt matter because they would still complain. They would say its hard to get to the porch to deliver packages because of the car. Which is funny because they don.they even do that. They just leave the pink slip saying they couldnt deliver the package without even trying. Hes not sure what to do. I was thinking to either sue them, or air all that dirty laundry on the news. But idk... Guess Im just ranting a little. I feel bad that he has to deal with the postal service like this. And it may actually be the churches fault, tbh...

This person seems to know what they're talking about. If they are correct then the Post office can indeed do what they have done.

Yes. Because each route has a certain time to deliver the mail. A route adjuster goes out with the Carrier at reasonable time invervals, to record how long deliveries take. Letter Carriers are required to 1)Wear seat belts when the vehicle is in motion 2) Set the parking break whenever they leave the vehicle 3) Turn off the vehicle when they leave it 4)Take the key out of the ignition whenever they leave the vehicle 5) curb the tires whenever they leave the vehicle 6) Park only in designated parking spots.

So, normally, curbside delivery takes about 20 seconds per address. When a Carrier is required to do all of the above to make one delivery, it takes about 3x that amount of time. So instead of delivering 3 address in a minute, it is one address in a minute. When 10 people do this, instead of a bit over 3 minutes, it has turned into 10 minutes. When you are a Letter Carrier, that is a lot of time. That is 1/3 of their lunch time. Every second counts every minute is accounted for. You have no time to dilly dally.

Sure, youve seen Carriers park their cars in the middle of the street, hop out and deliver the mail on occasion. But they can be reprimanded, and even fired for doing so - depending on the severity of the action.

It is not laziness - for most Carriers. It is a matter of time. Usually, if a person parks in front of their mailbox once in a blue moon, the Carrier will deliver the mail anyway. But when a person makes a habit of parking in front of the mailbox, it is disrespectful to the Carrier, time consuming for the Carrier, and the Carrier is not required to get out of their vehicle to deliver the mail. The delivery is marked as curbside, not a park and deliver point.

Sure. But its only him. And hes not even in front of the mailbox. Also, they actually do have the time. While the article says its not laziness, it sure seems that way since the mail people actually do normally walk the mail. By that, I mean they park at one corner, walk the mail to every house up the street, then back down, then drive to the next block or whatever and do it again. Not to mention, its one of the few streets in town with curbside mailboxes. Very rare for this town. To me, its not a big deal. I have a house mailbox, and my mail people walk it and dont complain. But he has trouble with certain people who deliver mail to him...
