Amazing considering I was ready for this movie to be utter ass.

It was great as an unintentional comedy, I was laughing hysterically the entire time.

I went in expecting the worst, but it's actually my favorite Disney Star Wars now aside from maybe Solo.

I don't even hate TLJ as much as most of the internet, I just really disliked certain parts (Casino), to the point where it might have surpassed TPM as my least favorite in the series, and I'm unbelievably forgiving towards the prequels.

Same.

I liked The Force Awakens overall too but it being a bit too similar to A New Hope and not being a good follow up to Return of the Jedi (made worse after TROS) bring it down a bit to me.

The only movie I dislike more than TROS is Attack of the Clones. Maybe The Phantom Menace but I haven't rewatched that in a long time.

TLJ is divisive but at least it feels like a movie. TFA is a ripoff but it was good. Rise of Skywalker feels like a Frankenstein creation that was cobbled together to appeal to fat angry f****s on the internet.

VII is okay but a very safe plot, VIII is a mess of ideas and plot threads that eat up time and feel disjointed, IX is something in between. I never felt disengaged from the story like I did with The Last Jedi but it also didn't feel like it was spending all its time trying to recreate the magic like The Force Unleashed.

IX is not problem-free by any stretch but those problems are more easy to overlook because the content of the movie mostly holds up.

This is a fairly common opinion, really. I see a lot of people say the same.

My favorite is still TLJ, I think. I'll have to watch them all again in order and think about it some more.

RoS is too nuts for me to dislike, and there are bits of it that genuinely made me laugh when I was supposed to laugh. There were times, also, when the actors were genuinely impressive, and the visuals endowed some of its dumbest scenes with genuine flair, even though the screen I saw it on was not exactly optimal. I've seen TFA twice, and TLJ quince, do I'm actually more interested in seeing it again than the others even though its my least favorite.

It still felt like two movies worth of story cobbled together and then had 40 minutes cut from it to boot. I am really interested in seeing just what the plan for this was.

The 'Death Star remains on a water planet' was in one of the earlier TFA drafts so I think a chunk of this movie was cobbled up from ideas discussed around then that they didn't end up using. They just changed the goal to find Palpatine instead of Luke.

Same if I had to rate the last three movies I'd say 7 was a 8/10, 8 was a 3/10, 9 was a 9/10.

Not sure why everyone hates it. Honestly I argued for years Palpatine would be fine because of soul transfering and clones and all his immortal research.

Only negative in my opinion about 9 was killing off Kylo Ren. I'd rather of seen them keep him alive and use him in future movies. Like have his girl save him from a prison to need him because he was actually the prophesied one or some crap. I feel they wasted massive potential for future movies of those two being together doing good, but hunted by the forces of good same time, etc.

Maybe even a secret Jedi Ninja school taught by them of Not Good but not Evil Jedi.

Nothing about Palpatine makes sense. His overall plan doesn't make sense. The backstory across the ST, the plan to be killed by Kylo/Rey to possess them, the dagger, the assassin etc. just doesn't make sense.

The Leia scenes were incredibly awkward to watch.

Then the movie itself is just sort of cobbled together and just goes along with no real rhyme or reason. Characters and subplots are introduced and leave the movie for no real reason. Nothing in this movie has any real consequence and major moments are typically set back to normal a few scenes later.

The closest it starts to sort of form into a proper movie is near the end but to get to that point there's just a lot that has to be skipped over.

I mean it's entertaining to watch but it's easily the most messy movie of the entire franchise.

Palpatine being a thing is by far the most dubious element of the movie for me. Not only does it brush under the rug all the questions that the previous two movies never addressed but raises a shitton of issues on its own.

If you think about it, the IX established that the main character for the 3 trilogies is actually Palpatine and made Vader's redemption pointless.

Ive recently decided that I think the whole trilogy sucks, but it's unfair to pin that on any single movie. The idea to redo rebels vs empire is the worst part.

Something I saw on TVTropes is that Vader brought balance to the force and Rey ensured it stayed in balance because Palpatine broke the rules by resurrecting.

I think this would have worked if they didn't make her Palp's grandaughter.

Like he used the Dark Side to resurrect himself so the Force created Rey as a response.

Palpatine would know this was a thing after Anakin and would be interested in her for the same reasons.
