The writing (characters, story, mission structure, etc.) is very impressive. But the controls for the horse just looks irritating. I die laughing whenever he's yelling at the screen because the horse fucks him over somehow.

you barely even have to touch the controller to ride the horse, it automatically magnets onto the road and just goes if you press the acellerate button
unless you mean fighting on the horse which i dont think i ever did except in the on part of the expansion where you had to. theres no point in it --- I pray god will curse the writer, as the writer has cursed the world with this beautiful, stupendous creation, terrible in its simplicity, irresistible in truth ... Roach has had tons of funny antics in the game. I think a lot of annoyances were later patched out, though.

fighting on the horse works once you realize you can hold the action button to slow time and time up the attack

I know I played the game for a very, very brief bit. My take away was that the horse feels a little weird, but that was mainly because I've been spoiled by how Rockstar handled horseback riding in Red Dead Redemption 2.
