I feel people tend to overthink, or oversell these issues sometimes.
I doesn't have to be about saving the earth. It is completely reasonable to realize that fewer emissions on the ground level are better for anyone living in the area. It's that simple. Local Air Quality. I like to Walk, this time of the year, or take a bike ride up to the store, for like a beer run. I wouldn't say it's a workout, but it's nice little exercise outing. It all feels good, and relaxing, until a diesel powered truck comes by and you get hit with that unignorable diesel exhaust. It's so noticeably unhealthy.
