How often do you use cash? Personally I do not like using debit cards etc for obvious security reasons so I try to use cash as much as I can. At least with cash, no one can cteal your identity.

I carry about $100 around. Typically if something costs less than $20-$30 I'll pay cash. Pay cash for my coffee almost daily.

Pay with cash as little as possible, there's like 2 places i go to that dont accept card and thats a once a month (ish) thing.

Why would i trouble myself going to a cash machine to get money out just to use it somewhere i could use my card ?

I hardly use cash anymore. I don't have a vending machine to spend money on and my wife is a near germaphobe when it comes to bills. Because she acts like it's horrible to be anywhere near her, I don't carry it around and just deposit it in the bank

She might want to switch to cash if that's her concern.

If you use an ATM to get that cash, then that is certainly not the case as ATMs are the most common place that thieves use card readers to steal your debit card information. You are more likely to be safe using your card for purchases at a store then drawing cash out and using that instead. If you want cash the best thing to do is go into the bank and cash a check at the teller (which is what I do).

I use cash more often now then I used to (mostly because I don't work in an area where there is a high rate of muggings anymore), but I still prefer the convenience of a card, doubly so if they accept Google Pay since all I need to do is unlock my phone and hold it over the scanner.

Credit card. I pay it off daily through my phone app and get cash back without paying interest.

If I'm paying money I'd be losing money to not do it through my credit card.

And if I lose my wallet, all I have to do is lock my card.

I usually carry about $40 on average, which I use for dining/fast food or buying cheap items or services from smaller outlets. Or for paying for stuff from people I don't really want to have access to my credit card info. I also use cash when I go to the movies.

I mostly just use my credit card everywhere else now. Groceries, department stores, Home Depot, Barnes & Noble, even getting gasoline. Online shopping as well, obviously.

I still pay most of my utility bills by check, though. I'm not really a fan of electronic bill paying or automatic direct deposit.

I use cash sometimes for smaller purchases to get rid of some one dollar bills. mostly I use a card though. And I always try to have cash on me because I might find a use for it while im out and I do not want to be one of those "absolutely no reason at all to carry cash" when im in a store where the card system have gone offline randomly or something.

I usually carry $30-40 in cash, plus some change, but I use debit or credit for almost all transactions. I tend to default to credit because I get better rewards that way, but I'll use debit for small businesses because I know the 3-4% rewards credit cards charge them can be pretty painful on a smaller profit margin.

Where I work I love when people pay with cash because its more goodies for me to hunt through being a collector and all that. However fuck people who pay with a S100 or $50 note when you just open or their total is very small. Thats my main annoyance with cash. Though I can either cash it out or have my manager break it down into 20s....we aren't a bank and customers should be aware or this or at least CARE.

I was working at a store on a street with no less than 3 banks in a few block radius when a person comes in with a $100 note early in the morning after the bank deposit was just made. I didnt have the cash to break it down nor enough in my drawer to give him change. We told him to go to one of the several banks easily within walking distance and he looked at us as if we were speaking a foreign language, then came back like 30 minutes later telling us how another business was able to do it for him(but again, not a bank).

I hate those people. There aren't any ATMs in the area that have $100 bills. Why not just ask for small bills at the bank instead of trying to buy a soda with $100 bill and getting mad when the cashier only has $50 in the till.

They're not using a bank. Instead it's some cash checking place or grocery store.

I use cash around 99% of the time. I don't buy online much and use my card even less in stores. I like to keep track of my money and find it more easy to do so if I have the cash on me than overspend on the plastic.

I love using cash, it just feels natural. Like there's a social element to it or something.

But I typically use credit or debit. I get 1% cash back by using credit, so it saves me some money in the long run (it's only been about $70 a year, but whatever).

I find the opposite, actually. I export my bank statements to an excel sheet each month (mostly to figure out how to divide expenses between my girlfriend and I, but also just for general bookkeeping), which I can only do with debit/credit transactions unless I save receipts from cash ones. To that end, I try to avoid using cash for anything but small transactions that I don't care about tracking.

Quite seldom - really the only cash I use is the cash back from my credit card purchases (which is $25 about every 3 months) and perhaps $50 I'll take from my tax refund.

CASH, BABY!!!

I get shit for it all the time. My friends openly tease me about it.

Sometimes I even get eyerolls from waiters and stuff.

But cash is the supreme choice.

I use it for 90% of my purchases (unless it's something expensive like plane tickets, electronics, etc).

I always have at least $200 on me at all times.

I understand the convenience of plastic....but did everyone just wake up one day and suddenly forget about the importance of ANONYMOUS PURCHASES!?

The chances of having your identity stolen by using cash....are extremely unlikely. Dare I say impossible???

That's kind of a big deal.

There isn't much to keep that innocent looking waitress from filing your credit card number aside and using it later. Or overcharging you and you not noticing.

Plus you have to give the waiter your card, wait for them to dick around for an hour, bring it back, and then you play the math game for 10 minutes....sign it, then leave.

I hand them a $20 and I am free to get up and leave. I don't have to WAIT for permission to leave the fucking premises. lmao

Cash, baby.

Cash for days.

You do you man. I will say though I tend to budget by using a spreadsheets so I can see why having back statements can be useful for finical tracking. I was more referring to having x amount of cash in my pocket and thus not being able to overspend even if I want to. This is mostly a issue when I go out drinking as "one more drink" is never just once more drink so having cash and forcing myself to only spend that amount by only having that amount on me is a preference. Also some places only accept cash or the machine is broke so juggling between the two sucks for me. Being as I'm carrying cash anyway I see no point using my card.
