Do people sit at the same spots usually every time?


And it doesn't have to be a cold, hard rule that's clearly established. It can just be as simple as people gravitating toward their favorite seats and nowhere else, and everybody just sits there out of habit. The alternative is a free-for-all where people switching things around and may sit in different seats each time. Which is considered the more "normal" option? I realize that a lot of people here are grown up and don't do this with their parents and siblings anymore, but when you were a kid, how did you do it?

growing up, there were default seats we always took

nowadays we sit wherever, as i live in my own house, and my brother is seldom home for dinner, when i'm there anyway

Usually we just seat with our immediate families across three huge tables that seats 45 people and another table for our kids. I like to sit my family in places that we don't have to scoot our seats in for other members to pass by, but away from the snack tables to avoid handing stuff over.

Thats considered cringy these days?

I mean if hes not the buying all the food it is I guess but if you pay for everything i feel getting to sit where you want is the least the rest of the family can do.
