Alright, here's the banner I've been waiting for. Really want to pull Rinoa's Sync, and preferably her other stuff too. Only one dupe to start, Red's chain, wish they had left Larsa's awakening here instead. 343 mythril here we go...

First pull: 2 discos and 1 rainbow. When I hit skip game seemed to freeze for a second, I was like "uh...", then Doctor Mog popped up and turned one disco into a prism. Hell yes, Rinoa Sync first pull!! Other items were Barret LMR and Enna Kros G+.

Second pull: Refia LMR, dupe Enna Kros G+

Third pull: dupe Barret LMR, Rinoa Awakening!!

Awesome results. I would still like Rinoa's G+ but I don't think it's worth pulling for it now. Three stacks of enEarth from the sync should be enough anyway. Time to try Ramuh!

I'll try Ramuh tomorrow, since I missed Red XIII's chain AGAIN I'm gonna wait until the free 40 pull just in case, if I don't get it then I'll select it from the chain select.

I probably should pick up Maria USB as well for enelement infusion.

Team I'm thinking of is Rinoa, Maria, Red XIII, Tyro and Penelo.

Now what to do with that leftover 50 mythril? I could draw on phase 5 for CoD stuff, or just do the RoP I've been holding back on, hm.

Geez, Ramuh is nuts. Although part of the problem is I somehow ended up on speed 5 for part of the fight without realizing it. I was like wow, these stacking fastcast effects are really making my team go fast! They were, but not quite that fast.

I had Rinoa use sync and Rydia use awakening, then as soon as we push him to phase 2 and he uses earth diffusion Red cast his awakening too. We were cruising for a while, but then Rydia's awakening ends and she's not contributing that much. My plan was to build her bar until she could use her AOSB, but she gets diffused before that and has to use her BSB instead to get en-earth. Maybe I need to entrust her and have her use it as soon as Awakening ends. Once the earth diffuse hits Red also can't do any more damage either. Around this time Rinoa has to switch to her Awakening which isn't AS powerful as the Sync. Meanwhle Ramuh starts going nuts in phase 3. I'm definitely going to have to work on this some more, I hope what I have is enough.

Eh I dunno, with there only really being 6* magicite and some torments left for me, maybe it might be better to use it on RoP in preparation for the neo neo torments coming up.

But even for 6* magicite I seem to have most of it covered. I think I'm ready for Ramuh, Leviathan I have to tools for a poverty clear with Kain Awakening and Lighting Glint/Brave, granted a better lightning relic would help. Ifrit is said to be pretty easy for a 6* especially with Gogo's USB, I just need a mage enwater Awakening. Shiva is also easy if you have two enFire Summoners (I have Terra, I think Ace's will be on a Dream Select soon.) Valefor, I got Squall Awakening/Laguna Chain, Fran's Awakening should dream select able by then. Alexander is pretty much a freebie with the 5th anniversary gift set of Seph Awakening/Dualcast LMR/AOSB. Diabolos well I might have to save for that one but that 5 months away anyway.

XV Torment down! 26.60. The Noctis and Prompto awakenings did plenty of damage, but I still needed a couple clutch doublecasts from Iris to keep the team alive, I'm not sure if I would have made it without those.

13 down, 4 to go. I probably have the offensive tools now for XII, but I might need to spend lenses on a healer USB. Which one is better, Larsa or Penelo?

Man Ramuh is really pissing me off! Who thought that overstrike attacks + damage when you take an action was a good idea? I have DPS covered fine with Maria and Rinoa but it seems like always something goes wrong with dumb electric fence junk.

I really wish Penelo had an instant last stand soul break! I either have to time her BSB2 off Red XIII's USB2 or have her use her USB2 then BSB2 it seems.

Do magicite HP passives show up before entering a battle? Because Terra has 7960 HP with or without magicites added to the party. So I assume they dont show up until after. If thats the case, how can I tell how much HP theyd have with the passives?

You just have to mathcraft with the formula, I don't really bother with it, but there's going to be an update that shows the stats after magicite buffs in a couple months.

I got to the third phase of Ramuh, but I couldn't do anything because I ran out of awakening/sync and I couldn't cut it with Maria BSB.

This old bastard has way too much HP! On top of all the other BS he does, in the later turns of a phase almost everything he does is fatal, so I had to bring Hilda just to get there to keep giving last stands to the party, but then if you take too long Trine will paralyze everyone without enearth, so I have to use Red XIII USB1 just for Astra, but then I don't have enough meter to refresh chain.

I don't know what to do when I get to the third phase. Too many defusions, too much HP, to much micromanaging... this guy feels impossible.

Yeah, diffusion is super annoying. It makes me want to do the glint select (probably why they added it!) but none of the characters I'm using even have 5* en-earth glints! I also could really use Elarra's awakening.

Goddamn is he fast in savage mode, especially when combo and savage combo are basically instacasts. Terra and Tyro both died at the end, but this was my first run against him. I just needed to entrust Elarra at some point beforehand so she could USB early in phase 3, and either have him renew Godwall or RW Raider for haste.

That's 10/16 5*s done. I think I can get Typhon with Terra AASB + Vali leading the way (gotta find a secondary ice mage), and likely Fran's chain so she can imperil. I'm terrified of Syldra, and only have Squall's BSB2 and AOSB (and USB1 but lol that), so not sure what to do there, though likely Fran chain there as well. I have Ultimecia AASB and can likely use Alphinaud USB and bUSB as secondary DPS for Adamantoise (Faris chain likely). May be able to get Mateus as well with Bartz AASB and some other supports. But I have no idea what I can do against Belias and Ark. My water magic is quite poor, and I don't think my holy magic is any better.

Oops, meant Tyros regular glint. Beat him again, 22.50. Main thing is having Elarra USB ready to go after his phase 3 first turn, then have someone readying RW to re-apply haste after savage ice storm.

I've tried Ramuh more, but I still haven't gotten as far as I did in that first attempt. I keep dying to the Thunderous Judgment Bolt / Stormlance combo. I started bringing Elarra's BSB for last stand, but Thunderous Judgment Bolt is doing 9999 to Rydia which pops the last stand, and then Stormlance does about 11-12k which she just can't survive. Obviously I got past this once but I'm not sure how.

One thing I do appreciate about this fight is how the timing of the first Primal Essence lets you input your turn 1 commands without input lag.

I've had a few better runs but I still sometimes wipe to the phase 2 Thunderous Judgment Bolt and sometimes I don't. The only difference can be his rage level, and I'm doing the same thing every time, so I think the difference is what Ramuh's ATB bar is at when I push him into phase 2?! If that's what's going on it's a really terrible fight mechanic.

Anyway I think I might need to farm 100 magia to raise Red's mind so he's not paralyzed as long. I am trying to save his AASB for phase 3 since that's the hardest part, but if I do he gets paralyzed in phase 2 and he's not recovered in time to refresh the chain. I had a run where I came pretty close after he did finally recover from paralyze.

Maaaan Ramuh is straight up the worst boss I've fought in this game so far, maybe the worst boss in any RPG I've played. So I can sorta consistently get to the third phase, but that phase straight up feels impossible! He's like as fast as Manticore, uses overstrikes and other really painful moves in phase 3, and even with last stand that electric field shit will kill someone if they're finish casting before the medica is up, and that field eats up Penelo's damage reduction barrier from the real painful moves, uses some anti heal crap and is just too fucking bulky! I already used up all my Awakening and Sync time just to get to the damn third phase on top of wasting precious Awakening/sync turns having to use Maria's USB and Rinoa's super just to get infusion back)

How the fuck did they think this boss was okay?!

Yeah, I got pretty close but not as close as that. I forget, do you have Elarra's awakening?

I figured out solutions to both the problems I was having - I block paralyze with Tyro's USB1 (finish phase 2 before the move that diffuses earth if no one is stunned) and I use the RW to break rage mode right after the beginning of phase 2. So I can consistently get to phase 3 but I just can't keep up with the incoming damage there. And Rydia's damage is super weak after her awakening wears off... but that's not my real problem.

My wishlist (things that exist right now):

Oh, you're not using Elarra. I'm impressed you got that far with Hilda. Although at least her USB gives last stand... but I'm leaning heavily on regenga, and part of the reason I die is because I keep having to refresh last stand instead of being able to cast her USB.

I don't have Elara's Awakening (wish I did, but the core banner always seems to give me dupes)

I bring Hilda because instant last stand is incredibly important, and she has bard so she can Allegro and Mage's Hymn, as well as that LM2 with a slight chance of Medica.

Deuce would probably be better with her USB2 since it's the same except boosts resistance instead of defense, but I don't have that.

I really regret not picking Rinoa's earth brave on the 500 gem select, or hell I regret not doing the USB dream select last time, I might have to pony up the next one for it.

Yeah, I can't justify spending $30 for a USB at this point. If it were 2 for 1 like the LMR and Glint selects I would do it, and grab Rydia's brave with Red XIII's radiant shield earth USB.

I dunno I'm really tempted to do the dream select for Rinoa BUSB because I kinda stall in the first phase with Maria USB and Rinoa with her enearth LMR, build chain with them and reflected damage and then use Rinoa AOSB to get to the second phase, and I then I refresh the infusion with the Awakening and snyc, that usually gives me enough DPS to get through the second phase and about halfway through the third phase. When they run out I'm just spamming OSBs and healing USBs in hopes I can kill Ramuh before he kills me. If I had Rinoa's Brave I could stall a little longer in the second phase and save more sync time for the third phase which might finally get me that win.

(if I knew how many hours I'd waste fighting Ramuh I would have just worked 2 hours overtime during the holidays and get that $30 easy for that USB select)

Then again I don't really see offense USBs as obsolete as people try to make them out to be. You can only do so much damage in 15 seconds against bosses with 3+ million HP and savage mode layers, or multiple target gimmick bosses like Ifrit and Valefor so you will need a backup soul break. And especially with that enelement dispel crap making you waste meter and precious seconds off your Awakening/sync anyway. Having that magic damage boost and brave command would certainly give a major boon over just her super!

I tried Y'shtola instead of Elarra and it worked okay but still ran into the same problem in phase 3 where she can't instantly restore last stand (she needs to use her USB and then raise her brave to l3). The loss of untyped HQC hurts too. I might give Sarah a try since her USB does give last stand on entry and she can use Allegro. Definitely hope we get the Healer pickup banner (that Japan got before our last fest) soon.

Dream selections are tomorrow, which ones are you doing? I'm doing LMR for the two-for-one, planning to grab Rinoa's doublecast black and en-ice. AASB seems too good to pass up but these options don't excite me very much. I have a bunch of them and the ones I don't have are either not needed for a long time (both Cecils), are for content I already finished (Zidane), or are available free in the 5th Anniversary (Tidus, Orlandu, Ingus). I think I either take Zidane because I like him and plan to use it in the neo-neo-Torment, or take Tidus and plan to get Ingus on the anniversary selection thing.

Glint is also tempting because it's 2 for 1 but the characters I need en-element for don't have 5* glints.
