I've had a lot of shutouts, a few no-hitters, and now this milestone. Anything pitching feats left besides a 20-strikeout game?

Nice. I've been playing various editions of the Show for years now and still don't have a no-hitter.

I've come close a few times but I always blow it late game.

Staumont from the A's was the losing pitcher. Not sure if that's a real person or not, since I'm about 10 years into this CaC run, so a lot of the greats have retired and generated characters have moved up. This was the first game of the season and my first time in this league (I originally played for the Giants, then Phillies).

Don't give up! It took a few years before I could get my first one, and even then, I (probably) could only do it on the build that emphasizes control. Gotta get your stamina up and unlock some helpful perks, like the one that gives you a boost of energy halfway through the game. I also have the Workhorse perk (maybe from doing so many complete games?) so I lose energy at a slower rate than normal, too.

I've put in probably a few hundred hours in this game and 99% of it has been RTTS stuff. I've made other pitchers, but this dude has my favorite pitch mix so far (4-seamer, cutter, slurve, splitter, vulcan changeup), so I kinda ignore everyone else.

You mean change the difficulty to pitch easier or make the opponents crappier? No, I think all of those settings are on default still. I definitely moved stuff around to bat easier (for instance, playing Hall of Fame-tier pitchers in Double-A ball is, frankly, stupid), though that may have been on my Cincy character.

Grats. I've had a couple years back.

In NBA 2k16, I had my first ever quadruple double (10+ in points, assists, steals, and rebounds) with my starting Point Guard last January. Then about a month after getting NBA 2k19, I got my first ever 5 for 5 (5+ in points, assists, steals, rebounds, and blocks) with my starting Center. So I know the feeling.

Does NBA 2K19 have similar character creation, stat points, etc.? I think it was given out on PS+ last year, but I never played it. I think I heard it was hard to raise stats or something.

Never had a true perfect game or no-hitter in any baseball game despite thousands upon thousands of hours. Had one or two on MVP 05 by maxing out a pitcher, nerfing all the opposing batters to 0, and playing on the easiest level. But that's cheating.

Yeah, the dynamic difficulty can be too punishing, too early. I remember smug CaC bastards in Double-A throwing 99 MPH and stuff, while my dude is struggling with basic stats. On the flipside, I never minded pitching to batters on dynamic difficulty, since it's fairly satisfying doing the mind games.

I save scummed some things (like being the all-time saves leader or breaking Joe Dimaggio's 56-game hit streak), but that's mostly because the simulation aspect of the game -- i.e. when you're resting up and not playing -- isn't that great. If you want to get some of the achievements/trophies for these things, consider making a new CaC with a strikeout build. None of my pitches go over 95 MPH and the announcers treat him like a golden god. A balanced repertoire helps, though. (I'm sure you know this, but once you get to the majors, you can have your teammates teach you their pitches so you don't have to have just three the whole time.)

Looks like the A's starting pitcher did well too. Plus it looks like your only run scored off a sac fly or ground out or something.

Wasn't really paying attention to the per-inning scoring, but yeah, if the losing pitcher only did a few outs, the starter probably did fairly well. I use the "simulate to next appearance" option a lot, so I don't always follow my teammates' plays.

Sometimes doing those long efforts can kinda suck, though. I've definitely done performances where I have a 0-0 game going into the 8th or 9th, get relieved, then the closer blows the whole game like a dumbass. I don't get the loss, but it's kind of a waste.

That reminds me, though -- part of the reason I could develop my dude so well is that I was a closing pitcher for three years. This means you can get into the bullpen, etc., to develop stats a lot quicker than as a starter, plus all the challenges to boost stat caps are easier. Example: instead of getting 10 outs with your primary pitch, get 2 instead. Very helpful for those looking to break out in the league.
